In all seriousness, it really does seem like a cool community here, but at least on my machine it’s very slow and the wait time seems unusually long. So have y’all had problems with spam here? Just curious.

All seriousness aside, truth be told they don’t know what the hell it is. Or if they do know, they’re not telling us. Or when they do tell us, it’s goofy shit about how big their database is and stuff, as though small databases were the norm. It’s undeniably true that there are longer lag times on this board than on other, even much larger, boards. And it’s probably because they (1) do not have the high level expertise to configure the board and/or server (not knocking Jerry — he just might not have time to mess with it.) and (2) are pretty much stuck in the mud when it comes to upgrades and custom coding (again, possibly because Jerry is busy with other things.)

But there’s just something about this board. It’s like home-grown tomatoes. You have to wait. And then when they arrive, it’s like heaven. (Or hell, I guess, if you don’t like tomatoes.)

Oh, on re-reading I was too cryptic.

I was referring to the forced wait time between posts. It’s like 5 minutes! I’ve never seen anything like that before. Other boards, it’s a minute usually.

That’s why I asked about spam. Only reason I can see to force a 5 minute wait between posts would be to discourage spammers.

Still pondering. Would like to kill the ads.

But then this one ad comes up for a new Michael Cera movie that looks really good – big Arrested Development fan, here – and I run it and I’m thinking, “Hey, maybe the ads ain’t so bad…”

It’s not a perfect system and everyone suffers with it, sad to say.

Bottom line, FatKid, is it doesn’t matter whether you think you should join or not. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

I’m not sure about that. “M it is”, a funny construction there. Are you sure we’re not dealing with an expletive, e.g. “It’s raining”? After all, there’s no clear referent for the pronoun.
