Should I get vaccinated for Covid-19 if I have recovered from it?

I have had Covid-19 and have recovered from it. I know that the length of immunity isn’t known at this time. I also know that you can apparently be reinfected with it. When and if a vaccine becomes widely available, would it be of any benefit for me to get one? I have looked online for an answer and realize this may not yet have even been studied.

No. At least not until the first round of vaccinations to further prove its safety. Also to leave one dose available for someone that may really need it. There have been very very few documented reinfections from tens of millions of cases.

well considering they just identified the first person who had gotten reinfected i would just to be safe ,

My suggestion absent of any additional info, that I would tend towards no. Reason being it’s a rushed vaccine and you would maintain some form of immunity already. Those 2 combined would tilt the risk/benefit scale against your favor, as you are taking on the same risk as someone who has not had COVID19 by the vaccine however you may be immune already so less benefit to you then someone without it.

In your shoes, I’d get it, but only once everyone who hasn’t had the disease had a chance to get the shot first. One or two years seems like a reasonable guess for duration of immunity.

When in doubt, ask you health care expert about your specific situation. Speaking just for myself, I’d be getting it as soon as a vaccine becomes widely available. If you’re not shoving someone else out of the vaccination line so that you can get your dose then it’s fair game.
