Should I open my Johnny Lightning cars?

Whilst digging around in boxes, I found my Johnny Lightning toys. All of them are in the cardboard-backed ‘blister packs’ and include a collector’s trading card. I have a '62 MGB, a '65 Sunbeam Tiger, a '61 Jaguar E-type, a '58 Austin-Healey Sprite, a '58 MGA Twin Cam, and a '60 Triumph TR3A. In addition, I have a First Shot Limited Edition set that includes two '62 MGBs – one is silver ‘Kandy Khrome’, and the other is ‘raw’ (without paint or trim). First Shot sets are limited to 7,500 units.

I think I should leave the First Shot set in the box. Why? I don’t know. I’m never going to sell it. I’m not selling any of the other, non-limited, toys either; so I don’t see why I ‘need’ to keep them unopened.

What do you think? Open them, or not?

Keep’em closed.

While you say you will not sell them, think again. When you’re on your death bed the proceeds from selling them might pay for a hellofaparty.

This is why I always buy two of everything I think might become a collectable. I keep one in the box, and take one out to, um, display. Yeah, that’s what it is! Display! And sometimes my displaying of them involves me pushing them around making “vroom vroom” noises.

Y’see, it’s so hard to play wi… display them when they’re in their blister packs! :frowning:

Some of these on eBay

They aren’t exactly setting the auction world on fire, but that could change.
