Should I start drinking coffee?

I’m not sure what’s up with the caffeine discussion here. If he drinks tea, he already has regular exposure to caffeine. A cup of coffee here and there or even every day isn’t going to make much difference. There is also the option of decaf.

Personally I don’t like coffee. I like cream and sugar. Coffee is simply a very effective delivery system.

Yeah, that seemed odd to me too. Black tea has less caffine, but it’s not that much less. It also stains the teeth. An occasional cup of coffee isn’t going to add much to what he’s already getting.

However, decaf is a crime against nature and all that is holy.

Since my doctor told me that I went with it. Doctors don’t know everything as individuals either. I see that the study says inconclusive though instead of wrong.

The more time I spend supervising other doctors and assessing their clinical practices (doing it for about 10 years now) the more troubled I am to see so many that are not up to speed in so very many of their areas of presumed competence.

So I drink some coffee and I calm down.

I can go weeks without tea, without being affected by obvious withdrawal symptoms, and then have 5 cups in a day. So I’m not seeing caffeine addiction from tea. I’m assuming then that I won’t be bothered by the caffeine in coffee…?

The people who end up actually addicted (as opposed to just really wanting it because of habit or they like it), are the ones who drink a fairly large amount everyday. An occasional, or even an every other day, cup won’t do anything to hook you.

I used to drink maybe 3 or 4 cups of tea a day. A few years ago for no particular reason I gradually stopped and started drinking 1 or 2 coffees a day. A few weeks ago I was reminiscing with a friend about how the group of us were such tea snobs back in the 80s. Having anyone drop around was the excuse to make a pot of good quality tea (no tea bags).

I bought myself some good tea, a nice modern 1 or 2 person pot and started drinking tea again. God, how did I ever give it up. It is ambrosia. You can drink it before, with or after a meal. On it’s own or with biscuits or cake. Anywhere from steaming hot to icy cold.

So now I drink 3 or 4 cups of tea a day and once in a while I buy a good cappuccino.

I drink coffee almost every day, but as far as I know have never experienced withdrawal symptoms if I don’t have it. Right now it’s 8:11 and I’m on my third cup, so I’m a pretty dedicated caffeine consumer. I’m not sure why I don’t end up with a headache when I skip it on the weekends…I’m very sensitive to other drugs.

Smell your wife’s coffee while you drink your tea.

Heh. That is how we currently operate!
