Should I take this other job if it's offered?

I’ve been going around and around in my own head on this for months. Tomorrow I go to a neighboring dispatching agency to test for a job. I still haven’t decided on whether or not I want to work for this agency.

Pros:
More money.
More professionalism.
Better equipment.
Formal training.

Cons:
Rotating shifts.
Longer commute (I’d be making roughly $200 more a month, but if I spend it all in gas, where’s the advantage?)
Less time to slack off (they take a LOT more calls in a day than we do).
Uniforms.
Starting back at the bottom of the food chain.

Right now I’m a supervisor, but I’m thoroughly disgusted with the way things are going down here (so disgusted, in fact, that I actually quit a few months ago, but I came back, even though there’s nights when I seriously consider running my car into a tree just to avoid coming to work). I’m hearing rumors, though, that some of the Higher-Ups are also unhappy, and some serious changes may be in store.

I honestly don’t know what to do. Any fresh thoughts, opinions, ideas would be most welcome.

Why are you even considering a demotion? Go there as a supervisor or better. So test for the new job, see if they like you, and if they do, say you’ll move but only as a supervisor.

I’d probably be able to negotiate for a higher starting pay based on my experience, but there’s no way they’d bring me over as a supervisor. I’m qualified to supervise here, but not there; every agency has an entirely different set-up, different equipment, different protocols, etc., and I’d have to work my way back up, learning as I go.

I suppose I’ll take the test and go from there. It’ll probably be another month before I hear anything back about the results, anyway. I’m considering, too, if it might be worth it to try to get my current agency to match the other agency’s offer (if I get one), but I’m not sure how firm a footing I have here, since I quit for about a month back in May (story here and here, if anyone’s interested).
