T2 has long scenes of plain boredom, most of them featuring Sarah Connor postulating about fate. Not the great film it is supposed to be by any means. T1’s reliance on back projection really makes it look dated now but as the originator of the series it is hard not to recommend it.
T4 is about as good as T3 in my opinion, basically they got away from the boring time travel aspect and put together a plain action film. The new guy Marcus is an interesting character and the reaper bot is pretty good, but like all movies it has dull periods just not as many as T2.
I’ll fourth it. T2 is the best, but I really liked T3.
I enjoyed T4. I also enjoyed Indiana Jones 4. I think one of the reasons I like these movies that most seem to hate is that I go to see them with my 10 year old daughter, who doesn’t think nearly as much as we do about what’s wrong with the movies. She doesn’t know that she’s not supposed to like sequels, and we both look forward to movies like these with great anticipation. I guess the movie would have to be truly awful before I’d let it ruin the experience of going to see it with her though.
(Neither one of us cared much for Spider-Man 3 though. Maybe because the air was broken in the theater that day and it was really uncomfortable to sit through).
