I’ll vote first: NO

Chapman himself said that he should be released because, if Lennon were alive today, he’d be a liberal and would want it that way.
I guess we’ll never know now, huh?
He knew what he was doing. He knew it was wrong. I say let him rot. One can only hope that he is making a nice prison wife for somebody (what the heck, the whole cell block).
Nay.
I am against the death penalty but all for the concept that life should mean life. Let him rot.
If he’d shot someone else instead of Lennon, and was due to be paroled anyway then I wouldn’t have a problem with it. It all depends on the decision of the people on his parole board.
Why did you use his name? The reason he did it was for fame. Most Lennon fans refuse to use his name. It’s been so long since I’ve used, I almost forgot what it was.
He should rot in prison, for his own safety. There are some crazy Lennon fans in this world, and I know at least one of them will plan on taking him out. He ruined too many lives when he shot Lennon. And I know that seems to be an exageration, but it’s not. Hell, if I was a different person, it would probably be me with the gun.
And that article made me sick, absolutely sick. I’m happy I wasn’t yet born the night John was shot, because I don’t think I could handle it. I get all teary now, just thinking of it, 20 years after the fact.
Oh, and the sig was a coincidence.
Really? That hasn’t been my experience.
No. And not because he killed John Lennon, but because he killed a human being.
Hmmmm… mine either. That’s a new one on me and believe me I know some Lennon fans. (Myself included.)
No.
I would base it on many things.
not the least is his statements about wanting to meet with Yoko.
He may in fact have gotten to the point where his mental illness is currently under control ** while 24/7 on supervision **, but that’s a long way from being safe outside.

Totaly agree. To quote Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven:
“It’s a hell of a thing , killing a man. You take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have.”

Well, here in St Louis that’s the rule. Even the disc jockey last night mentioned “the man who killed John Lennon will be up for parole,” and then explained that he would not use his name because he killed Lennon for fame.
pepperlandgirl: I’m old enough to remember when John Lennon was murdered. I still lived at home, and my mom woke me up with the news: “Guess who was killed? John Lennon!” I thought she was joking. I rushed to the living room to hear the news on TV and saw that it was true. I just couldn’t believe it. To say that the world caved for those of us who remember that day would not be far from the truth. I can’t think of any person other than John Lennon at that time whose murder would have a greater effect on more people. I cried that whole day and people at work that day didn’t even talk about it, they were so stunned and angry.
Abso#%@$inglutely not.
After reading the news article I am even more vehement about my stand on this. His mere mention of seeing Yoko Ono (who I have no great respect for as an artist) is a pure indicator of how delusional this lunatic is.
The additional insensitivity required to invoke the moral stance of someone he murdered in order to justify his release is merely another button on the straight jacket for this sicko.
I just wish that he could be placed in the general prison population for a few weeks to get an idea of what it’s like to have something not nice happen to himself for a change.
On the subject of this jerkoff finding religion I’d like to paraphrase Dennis Miller:
“Isn’t it funny how so many people find God only after they have painted themselves into a moral corner and made life a living hell for those around them. Nobody finds Jesus on prom night.”
That this little shit tries to summon Jesus to his side is one more reason to hope this little puke gets Big Bubba Jones summoned to his backside.
NO!!! He got LIFE, and that’s what it ought to mean. And the NERVE of him saying that John would want him released, yeah?? Welllll goofball, you MURDERED the only person on your side, what bad planning skills you have!!!
And the bit about how he’s sorry about, ‘John being “gone”’. What is this?? He was killed by YOU, he’s not just some ethereal GONE to some island somewhere meditating on life!
It’s been twenty years, and I’m still steamed.
I love the part where he says “There aren’t too many places you can go after you kill someone like John Lennon.” No shit, Sherlock. Off the top of my head I can come up with “Jail” and “Hell.”
John would want him released? Yeah right! Sure, he left my son without a father-let’s release him?
Fucker! Let him fucking ROT!. I was only 2 years old when it happened, and I had never heard of John Lennon, so I don’t remember it, naturally.
But I’m with pepperlandgirl.
Did you know that right before he killed Lennon, he signed out of work as “John Lennon?” He married a Japanese woman who looked like Yoko.
What the FUCK? If Lennon had lived, things would probably have gone better for a lot of people. He and his son, Julian, were currently becoming closer, a little bit at a time.
Did anyone read the Playboy Interviews with John and Yoko?
It is in book form, for those who don’t want to look at the T&A. John kept talking about how excited he was about his new album, about his sons, about his plans for the future.
He kept saying how he felt he was going somewhere. He also mentioned death, and said, “But that won’t be for a long time from now.” It was only weeks before he died.
Fucker. Keep him in jail.
No.
I had no use for Lennon or Yoko and still consider them both to be squirrels, but he did not deserve to be shot.
Chapman is still nuts. He should remain in jail.
