I expect they would compromise elements of the Saudi government, and that neither party wants to do that when OPEC has been playing so nice lately - and when the Saudis are cooperating with antiterrorism efforts. Think Al Yamamah.

Yeah. The Saudis are the closest thing to a friend we have in the Arab world. Pragmatism demands that we try not to piss them off. Doing so just to take cheap political shots at someone several steps removed from anything in the report would be especially unseemly on Obama’s part.
