Should the 10 Commandments stay in Alabama?

If anyone has been following this story better than I have, add something to what I have to say, but from what Ive seen, the people in Alabama that dont belive in God are trying to make the state remove a mermorial of the 10 Commandments from the Capitol building. Apparently, the argue is that it is violating the 1st Amendment of not letting religion and state come together. Do you think they should have it removed?

My opinion:
Yes because everyones opinion should be taken in consideration. I mean, if they had a satanic statue or something there I would want it removed. If I had a say. If I lived in Alabama that is. So its all the same. Then it could be moved to a private property so that the people who respect it could enjoy it.

From what I understand the chief justice of the state is a christian fundy and is trying to pick a fight with the american civil liberties union{might have their name wrong} so he can win in court. The issue is seperation of state and church{ as usual}. Hope Moore{ the judge} loses and the ten commandments go back where they belong, in the church and the home.

this kind of thread generally belongs in GD, and there is a discussion going on over there on this issue.

Sure! That’ll keep them out of the rest of the country, I’ll just have to make sure not to go to Alabama.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I agree with the telcontar that this is NOT the place for this “question”. But I will say this I am no longer from Alabama. I am claiming that I am from (any other state).

The General Questions forum is for questions with factual answers. Rather than move this to Great Debates, I’ll close it and direct folks to the GD thread linked to above.
