Should the internet shut down at 12 and star back up at 7 ?

Would someone be so kind as to tell me how to do this? Even better, if I can block some devices after X:00 but not others?

Well hell yeah of course. I thought everyone thought that. Are there some miscreants who don’t?

An interesting question, and not completely out to lunch.

A friend of mine is a paramedic and one quiet night they were dispatched on a call to check on an elderly couple.

When the paramedics arrived at the home sometime after 1100 pm, and asked about the health issue, the couple said they usually checked it out on the internet first before calling an ambulance, but since it was so late, they had assumed the internet was closed.

So, not such a dumb question afterall.

Electricity wasn’t free in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The cost of repairing the tube transmitter if it failed must have been more than the electricity cost of leaving it running like that. I thought those high power transmitters ate hundreds of kilowatts.

And some of us sleep and work weird hours within our time zones.

I go to work at 4 am twice a week. I like to check in on the world-- especially the weather report-- before I go to work. (and browse a few websites, sometimes).

I’ve got co-workers who work from 9 pm to 5:30 am or so. Their sleeping time is definitely other co-workers’ day (many of my co-workers work 6-2 or 7-3 or 8-4. And yes, there are people working 2 pm -10 or so. The building is never empty except on Thanksgiving and Christmas).

Yeah, they could surf right into a moral reef! Or be the victims of a quark attack!

[sub]My brain transmitters have shut down. What you are reading is my version of a white dot.[/sub]

Being unable to drunk-call an ex- and unable to get money to buy that dodgy schwarma from the corner chippie might actually be a good idea.

 Do you want me to slap you across the mouth?

I do not mean in a sexy way.

You know nothing, Broadcast Snow.

Why should the nocturnal among us have to suffer if you simply can’t not use internet on your own (or enforce such a rule among your own spawn or whatever) during these times you propose shutting down for?

Daylight internets savings, obviously.
