Should there be greater leniency towards fasting during Ramadan?

Well we all certainly have been engaged in our share of squabbles in this thread, but in the spirit of ramzan, I just wanted to wish everyone Eid Mubarak!
(i.e. Ramadan is over at sunset tonight)

AK84 and Ramira especially, since I know the two of you are observing, I hope you have a wonderful gluttonous Eid

My own belief is that if your religion is going to interfere with the performance of your job then you should look for another one more suited to the demands of your faith. It’s no different to the woman who wouldn’t issue marriage licences to gay couples because her faith forbade it. She couldn’t do her job properly because of her religion, she should have resigned rather than demanding that her job should fit in with her religion.

Your religion is your own affair and employers should respect that, unless and until you start making unreasonable demands. Obviously they need somebody who can meet the requirements of the job, which presumably will have been explained to them when they started. If they knew there were going to be problems then they shouldn’t have taken the job. If they converted to another religion after starting work then they would have to decide which is more important to them, their faith or their job.
