Well, to each his own, I suppose. I personally find Velveeta nachos to be absolutely disgusting. However, that doesn’t mean I want to pass laws prohibiting everybody else from eating Velveeta nachos in front of me.
Corn Nuts. They should be outlawed. Thongs? I don’t see what the problem is. Now there might be an issue if there were copious numbers of the morbidly obese prancing around in thongs, but you have to take the good with the bad in these cases.
However, it is a private property and the owners can pretty much do what they want. I don’t think that you can press a 1st amendment on this one.
Personally, I think there should be a law against naked people eating Velveeta nachos. Other than that, I’m pretty open minded.
But how do you feel about Madelyn Albright eating Corn Nuts?
Banned, except for the ages 18 to 25 and there made mandatory.
They can have my thong bikini when they pry it from my cold, dead… nevermind.
This is just a little opion, but…
Pornography is legal because of the first ammendment, but there are restrictions on it. (I.e laws to protect children from seeing it, etc.) If a woman wore a revealing swimsuit to a beach or pool, how can it be any different? (other than this isnt a government law)
I can see how Porn isn’t there for public viewing, and parents can restrict their children from access to it, but how can parents protect their children from a pool or a beach when they cannot know if someone will go revealing that much?
I know a thong isnt full nudity, but it comes very close to it.
Pathros - I don’t think nudity=porn. The nudity laws are more about decency/social mores.
A naked woman on a beach isn’t porn.
A naked woman on a beach fucking twelve goats may be.
A woman in a thong isn’t porn.
A woman in a thong fucking twelve camels may be.
I would be happier for my kids to be on a nudist beach where nudity was more or less accepted and ignored, than on a beach where people were wearing deliberately suggestive stuff.
I never said Nudity WAS Porn, but there doesn’t have to be sex for something to be considered pornographic.
I suppose you’re right about nudity being accepted and ignored, but does it make it right? (Thats probably meant for another thread)
Going back to the OP, though, IMHO thong bathing suits SHOULD be banned. I think bikinis reaveal a lot, and if I had a small child, I wouldn’t want them exposed to to a thong or full nudity. In any case, Public nudity would never be accepted in the united states because of its implied sexuality. Of course, you could say that at other Nude beaches there is no open sexuality or innuendo at all  (not that you WERE saying that.)
Going back to how you said you would take your children to such a beach if it were accepted and ignored. I simply would not. I think it relies on the majority, and for the case of nudity, that probably won’t happen in the states for a long time. If it did, I wouldn’t go to the beach. As for thongs? I doubt thong banning would be accepted as a whole, but I would support it.
I’m sorry…am I understanding you correctly here? Are you implying that this is more open sexuality or innuendo on a nude beach than a regular one? Because I would certainly argue the opposite. It’s easy to hide an erection on a normal beach. On a nude beach you have to be extra careful with your thoughts.
All the nude beaches I’ve ever been to have been really tame and full of people you’d probably not want to see naked anyway (although you get your share of stunners occassionally.)
I’m not a nudist, nor do I regularly attend such beaches, but from my experiences with them, they certainly were less sexual than regular beaches, believe it or not. Plus all the beaches I’ve ever been to in Europe were topless, so titties don’t qualify as nudity to me, anyway.
Yeah, thats Europe not the United States, and you could argue about sexual maturity being more present there, or you could say that they are just more immodest. I think both arguements would be valid.
Probably so, but I doubt that would ever happen in the United States. The culture here is just far too conservative, and nude beaches would still not be a place I take my children. I don’t mean to be condescending to one who would, though, because IMHO, you can raise a sexually responsible youth both ways. (being open with sexuality, and not) I actually spent 4 years of my youth in Germany, and although I never went to a nude beach, I did go to a public pool where nudity was present.
I just think thongs should be banned because in a place like the US becayse they provoke sexual thoughts and action in a public arena. (Because I know someone is going to say it, I don’t mean it provokes people to have sex in the open.)
BUt again like I said earlier, I don’t think it’ll happen on a nationwide scale.
—I think bikinis reaveal a lot, and if I had a small child, I wouldn’t want them exposed to to a thong or full nudity.—
Is it sort of like a game, where every birthday they get to see more and more of a naked pic that you’ve covered up? It’s sort of like that old, horrible Nintendo game: Menace Beach (later converted into “Sunday Funday”.
Why not, Apos? I’ll never understand what is so scary about the naked human body. Please, someone explain this to me.
Ah yes. But we live in a society where the majority of people are adults. We shouldn’t all have to live as children because a small percentage are. You raise your kids how you like. Don’t make society change so you don’t have to bother raising them at all, though.
“I just think thongs should be banned because in a place like the US becayse they provoke sexual thoughts and action in a public arena. (Because I know someone is going to say it, I don’t mean it provokes people to have sex in the open.)”
but so do short skirts, high heels, low cut dresses, tight jeans, wife beater T’s…
Well, I suppose it depends what you have tattooed on your heinie.
Pathros: Where do you draw the line as far as restricting your children’s access to nudity? You obviously don’t want them exposed to naked people on the beach. Is there any context in which you think it would be okay for them to see real live naked people? What about in (non-pornographic) magazines and books? On TV or in the movies? In art? (I’m not trying to bust on you. I’m genuinely curious.)
Right, and they shouldn’t be exposed in a PUBLIC place to that sort of thing, and neither should I. I said children because a lot of people would be against it to protect them. Personally? I don’t want to have to see it either. I can choose to not go to one, and often times I do. I guess its my rights versus theirs then?
People can wear thongs all they like, but if its in a public area, then, IMHO there should be restrictions. Nothing is stopping you from going and wearing your thongs, or going nude, but when you do it in front of others in a public area, then you are violating them. (for those who don’t wish to see it, of course.)
I also said I doubt there will be a nationwide banning on thongs, but I offered my opinion. I think it’ll come down to freedom of choice over enforced modesty, and freedom of choice will win. You go wear your thongs, why I stay at home.

Sorry I posted all that before I saw what you said.
Okay this is by far a “pathros guide to raising children.” I grew up in a much different atmosphere than this, and really DO NOT want this to be open to ridicule. It is my choice, and I offer this in response to your question.
As far as restricting my children to nudity? Depends on how old they are. If a child is 21 and married nothing is going to stop my from preventing them from seeing someone naked. If they are 8 years old, I would do everything in my power to keep them away from * porographic * or suggestive television, magazines, or videos. Then again, if they were 15 or 16, I would still try to prevent them, but they could always do what they chose.
I also think a certain maturity comes with the naked body and sexuality. When I say I’m going to prevent them, I imply, prevent them from pornographic images, or images that destroy the sanctity of sex. An 8 year old is probably a little too young for a someone to be exposed to sexuality, but by the time they reach puberty, and I give the time honored “birds and the bees” speech, then they’ll probably need to know certain things which include human anatomy. I will teach my children about sex, about the human body, and they will probably see nudity. I don’t want them to go outside to get an extra dosage of it that could promote destructive sexual behavior, and I surely do not want them to learn about sex through pornography. (Not to say its not going to happen, of course)
I’m just going to add one little bit, which might help you see into my Point of view. I don’t watch R rated movies and wouldn’t allow my children to see them either. I do enjoy art, but I keep it in perspective, and don’t consider a naked photograph “art.” (I would probably view it as “Art Intended for Mature Audiences Only,” and chose not to view it knowing there would be sexual suggestions.) As for magazines? I usually don’t have any that would contain nudity, except for national geographic. If a child saw a naked person in one, I would teach them to keep it in it’s perspective. You could say the same for a nude beach, but not in America, not with the highly sexual media and influences that would be present in such a place.
Pathros–Thanks for explaining.
Okay, I’ve searched every forum and there is no poster called ‘Thong Swimsuits’
And it’s late, and I must be going…
