Should we have a state religeon?

Which one should it be? Who would decide?

You’re kidding, right?

No, we should not.

Heck, yeah!

This country needs some churchin’ up. I vote for the Church of the Invisible Pink Unicorn.

Battyism is a fine, albeit unrecognized religion.
Its major tenets include: Hamburger Helper and New Castle Brown Ale communions, meditation sessions with the Playstation in order to achieve cosmic balance and a holy period of 5 months known as football season - to be faithfully observed every Sunday afternoon thereof.
And its messiah is really laid back.

Battyism can only be seen as the dark path by those who worship at the church of Feynn. They revile that sport called football which is the work of the evil one. Any game where you can run out of bounds is not worthy of such reverence.

We worship the Grail that is also known as the Stanley Cup and our most fervent worship occurs on Saturday evenings.

But really… a state religion?

Maybe the state could also mandate where we work and how much we are paid? They could tell us how many children we were allowed to have and what was acceptable reading material too.

It sounds like too much fun for me to handle.

I cast my vote for Judyism!

We can worship at the shrines of Judy Garland and Judy Holliday, sing Judy Collins songs and go to Judy Tenuta shows!

Think of all the Judys we can saint: '60s nymphets Judy Geeson and Judy Carne; Elvis costar Judy Tyler (also famous as that Indian Princess from “Howdy Doody”), Judi Dench, Judy Davis, Judy Canova . . . The list is, if not endless, sufficient.

Nope nope nope nope!

The Holy Church of Guinastasia is the ONLY way to go.

The seperation of church and state is important. Not only because of religious diversity, but also because some people choose not to worship anything.

PS: The name is spelled Robespierre.

Lets consider Scientology. They seem like nice and harmless people. Plus I really want to learn more about the space clam.

Militant Agnosticism.

I don’t know if God exists — And Neither Do You!

Actually, I have changed my opinion. I think the offical state religion should be The Church of the Visible Pink Foreskin

Assuming that when you say “we” you mean the United States, absolutely not. “We” were founded on the principle that there should not be a state religion, and I will defend (with my life, if necessary) that principle.

For stomach-churning state religion fun, read The Handmaid’s Tale, by Margaret Atwood.

And that little First Amendment thingy in the U.S. Constitution doesn’t exactly diminish its importance, either.

I’ll second what Zenster said…

And really, the church of Feynn is the only true path.

Trust me.

We HAVE a state religion; it is called “consumerism”. Every weekend, people haul their kids down to the mall, to worhip at the various shrines of the consumer gods. Everyone is encouraged to buy as much useless crap as possible-indeed, the churches have advanced advertising to such a high are form that one cannot resist the entreaties of the consumer god to buy more stuff!
Consider this-more people spend more time in shopping malls than they ever do in church-this should settle the arguement.

Well, it depends. What state do you want to base a religion on? Texas? California? Apathy? Despondency? Euphoria? The possibilities are endless.

Hey, don’t dis fut nucking until you try it!

It’s better than Folgers in your cup, when waking up.

Maybe I should base a religion around it…
