The trick is in not minding that liars are gonna lie. That’s what we all need to learn: stop worrying about what republicans are going to say. They’ll say whatever they think they need to to hold on to or regain power. The truth means nothing to them.
So of all the misgivings I might have about Biden’s decision to issue these pardons, what the republicans will say factors not at all.
The sooner more of us learn that, the better we will be as a nation.
Trump is going to do that anyway, no matter what Biden did. Trying to lead by good example has been shown to be a fool’s errand in the Trump era.

I hope we’ve all moved past the phase of “oh no, if Dems do this, Republicans will do that”. Republicans are already planning to do that. If Dems don’t bite on the pretext being offered, another will be contrived.
Trump has already done that. He made it clear that he’d pardon all the J6 traitors, all through the campaign, and now he’s actually done it. The message to his vigilante followers is clear: If you’re on his side, he’s got your back, don’t worry about those silly rules and shit.
Haven’t you heard about “the Biden Crime Family”? They are all targets of the Republicans.
