Here is the small town of Paw Paw, MI where I live.
This is the neighborhood we live in.
This is where I work.
And this is a place nearby, where I used to spend my afternoons when I was in high school.
DrLoveGun and I are here, in the glorious hills of Redwood City, CA.
Right in the centre of here, although the brown roof is gray as of last month.
And here is where I am posting from (eh, it’s a slow day).
here is my town, if this works
The big white splotch is not in my town, but a few towns over-it’s Thornton quarry, purportedly the largest limestone quarry in the world (I have no idea if that is true).
This is my street/boardwalk/hood. I live in front of the ocean. The best part is watching the dolphins.
But I usually spend most of the day here. (it’s where I usually post from)
You’re there? Until last year, I worked right off Halsted in Glenwood.
Here’s my street. The area I live in is basically a maze.
Gack! Where on Halsted?
I don’t live near the quarry, per se–just wanted to highlight a landmark.
Rasied in Flossmoor, live in Homewood since I’ve been married.
Didn’t you once say that you were in South Holland or some such?
Anyway, Hi neighbor!
A very pretty picture, but from awfully far away.
You see the black line that snakes through the landscape? That’s the Sandy River. Now, in the middle of the map, the river shifts a little to the west and there’s a flood plain. See it? Okay, start in the bottom corner of that and move east and a little north into that grayish blob. Not the red part–that’s downtown–the grayer section. See a yellow spot? Neither do I, but one must be there if you look hard enough. That’s my in-town apartment, second floor of a 19th century dump of a cape.
Pictures from a bit closer (but not aerial–can’t have everything):
This is across the street. Behind that tree on the right, see the washed-out yellow building? That’s it.
I can’t find a new photo, this one is from 1912, but apart from the trees being bigger and the school’s trim painted white, nothing’s different. The stone building with the green copper roof behind the school is the library. Do you see the building just through the trees to the left of the library? That’s it.
My house is in the woods and totally invisible at Google’s scale, so no use showing a picture of it. Follow the river eastward until there’s nothing, then take the brook that goes north until there’s more nothing. There it is, can’t miss it.
There’s a school bus company on Glenwood/Chicago Hts right next to the nursery there. I ran that place for three years before I came where I am now.
Flossmoor huh? We did some work in there while I was there for the school district. That retaurant still there in the train station?
On the west side of Houston, Texas.
I would, but on Google Maps, my neighbourhood is covered by a cloud.
Here’s me in North Hollywood, CA. The resolution on these satilites is amazing, not only was I able to pick out my apartment, I think I can make out my car parked on the street.
I don’t know how mine turned into New Jersey.
Here’s my current humble abode in Burlington, VT. Lots of green, Lake Champlain, yeah, it’s good.
