To be fair, we don’t know how many other clients Destro has. It could be that he simply spends more time with Cobra Commander because
(1) CC is so incompetent, he needs to hire Destro as a consultant for his plans of world domination
(2) Destro hangs around for cheap grins watching CC screw up yet again.
Or (3) Destro hangs around, subtly undermining Cobra Commander’s efforts though mind games (appealing to CC’s prime weakness, his arrogance) to make sure Cobra DOESN’T conquer the world, as their need for his product will decrease if they do.
And I rather suspect Destro sells the Joes weaponry too, just through dummies. In fact I’ll make tie him with Mr. Fantastic in the poll everybody seems to be ignoring.
And since I’m voting for Destro now, in the spirit of my OP I feel obliged to point out that this is his girlfiriend, another sign of intelligence.
Thay has already been pointed out, yet I must concur that additional evidence is needed.
Don’t remember the issue number, but one of the storylines from Marvel’s G.I. Joe comic had the Joes – right after the Cobra Civil War – framed by a high-ranking general for some trumped-up charge of corruption or other. Destro got so pissed at the treatment of the Joes that he staged a high-profile rescue of the hospital where General Hawk was held prisoner, then confronted the General on live television with a set of “mistaken” invoices where the General had buried an arms sale from Destro’s company as a supply of basketballs.
Which just goes to show that (a) Larry Hama gave the Joe comic lots of shades of grey, and (b) Destro is an honorable guy, despite his bad taste in costumes.
And, on that note, this quotation: Destro & Cobra Commander are on the lam, & have broken into a mens clothing store, looking for disguises–
So, can we do a vote, & maybe settle this?
