Is this true? I seem to remember some trouble back in the days of–dare I say it?–“all your base” b/c a user had the catch phrase in his/her sig line, which made it nigh impossible to search for the phrase?
(Obligatory “sorry if this has been covered before.” I couldn’t find a similar thread in this forum. Danke!)
Well, if you’re not convinced, why not try searching on weigh career conundrum & any date, any forum? This thread where you used it doesn’t show up. Alternatively update your sig to something really unusual (not that that is any guarantee around here ;)) & search again to double check it.
However, sig lines from before the Great Conversion are considered part of the post, and are searchable. This probably wouldn’t be relevant for the AYB line, though.
Alternately, some folks don’t really use the sig option at all, but just stick in something that looks like a sig as part of each post. The easiest way to tell the difference is to look at the thread review when you post a reply: Real sigs don’t show up there.
As a side note, if you’re planning on doing a lot of tests with the search engine, then please, please, please do it in the evening, when the board isn’t so busy. Searches are a much bigger burden on the server than most folks suspect.
That’s what I figured, Goddess of Solid Fossil Fuels, but I wanted to mention it for reference of anyone else reading this thread, who might not know yet.
