Notice anything odd about the map of Michigan on the illustration that accompanies this article?
I’m off to send in my application for Canadian citizenship. Maybe they’ll remember we exist. :dubious:

Stonehenge Decoded?
I didn’t even think Stonehenge was IN Michigan. Nor a reproduction. No wonder you’re upset!
(When I clicked the link, I got a big full-page ad for Nanny Geo channel’s Sto nehenge Decoded, which still hasn’t gone over to the article.)
Okay – it’s up now. I see what you’re after.
But they didn’t want to give him an Upper Peninsula – that’s give him two weapons to Florida’s one. It wouldn’t look fair. Besides, Lower Michigan looks like a hand. It’s cute. I’m surprised they didn’t put a “We’re Number 1!” on it.
So if lower Michigan looks like a hand, and Florida is America’s penis…
Well, that’s what you get for not being contiguous. I don’t hear anyone in the Florida Keys whining about being missed…
Hey, we’ve had our eye on your peninsula ever since Minnesota got a piece of land north of the 49th!
<falls off chair, laughing>
Look–Yoopers are weird. You eat pasties, fergodsake. You talk funny. You are barely distinguishable from norther cheeseheads. And now you want respect? You got Tim Horton’s baby–that’s all you need.
No, we don’t. But I agree, if we did, it’d be worth it!
whisper to fellow Canadopers What’s a Michigan?
Yes, you do–I have stopped at one in the UP. That was 3 years ago, but I’ve never heard of TMs going out of business…
Looks more like a Mitt to me.
So the UP is pronounced ‘yoop’? I wasn’t sure if it was that, U-P, or just the word up, which sounds just odd to me.
My friends from St. Joseph (bottom of the mitt) say U-P, like you-pee.
It’s U-P (yoo-pee). I’ve never heard it pronounced Yoop, except in the context of “Yooper” which is indeed pronounced yoo-per.
You sure about that? I’ve never seen one in the UP, though they have some down in troll country (NOT FAIR!). Tim Horton’s store locater agrees with me.
Really? And here I thought I was in the UP --I was in Wisconsin? How weird is that…
Ok, you win. but I still say the pasties rule out any respect you deserve.
The UP is a hand, too. Its just sideways & not to scale with the LP.
yoo-pee?
yoo-per?
YOO CAT!
What are you rambling on about, Yooper? There’s what, 5 of you up there?
Nope, the UP is most definitely a rabbit.
Though you can sort of makeshift the UP with your left hand if necessary.
sigh
I’m really, really going to miss Michigan.

What?
Ooh, another one for my collection.
Heh, I love it. You need to find more of those!
