Oh, yeah, my other bad dream is that I’m back at my old job (which doesn’t even exist anymore, due to a buy-out.)
I have this one all the time. For me, it’s that I somehow missed a class in High School and I have to go back and take it. It’s always math or science (which I sucked at back in the day). I go right back to all the social awkwardness and panic of my high school days, ugh.
I get the actor’s nightmare too. For me it happened regularly every time I was in a show. About a month before the opening I’d have this dream a couple times, and it was always the same. We were at whatever point in production we were when I dreamed it, but that night was opening night. So sets weren’t finished, lines were half memorized. Funny though, everytime I usually dreamed that I went onstage anyway and did my best and then I usually woke up.
I came to realize it was my brain’s way of preparing me for opening night. Kinda like “if we can do it NOW in dreamtime, we can totally handle doing it in real time.”
Yes, same here! Sometimes the toilets are too high up or something odd like that and/or they’re filthy.
Other people have weird toilets in their dreams??? I thought it was just me! Oh, I feel much better. For some reason, when they do show up, the weird toilets completely freak me out. I’m sure Freud would have a field day with that.
The ones that aren’t scary but worry me are when I actually pee in the dream. When I wake up, I’m thinking, “Oh please Og don’t let me have actually peed…”
I got my Bachelor’s degree in 1988 and I still have the same dream, except in one variant I try to prove that I dropped the class but can’t find the confirmation slip and keep emptying out my backpack.
ETA: Apparently my higher education did not teach me to avoid run-ons.
Hah ! I have had similar dreams on occasion. Except, besides having forgotten a class ( or sometimes ALL my classes - I’ll dream that I somehow never finished school ), I somehow owe them a huge amount of money for some unclear reason.
I have the teeth crumbling and dirty/weird toilet dreams too! Though I’ve noticed that the toilet dreams tend to happen close to when I’m due for my period, and elements of that end up in the dream too. Very unpleasant! After the teeth crumbling one, I spend the rest of the day checking to see if all my teeth are still there.
And for some reason, I keep typing “teetch”.
I used to have a dream where I’d be driving around (it’s truly weird, I had this one even before I got my driver’s license) looking for somewhere where I had to do something vitally important for my future. Taking the SAT or GRE or my wedding, that sort of thing. I could see the place, but I couldn’t figure out how to get to it. Time was ticking on and on, and I was getting later and later for whatever…
And then it actually happened. I had an interview scheduled, and had Google Maps directions printed out to it, but I couldn’t find it. And couldn’t find it, and couldn’t find it. Five minutes after I was supposed to be there, I call Mr. Neville on my cell phone in a panic, asking him to look up the phone number for HR there. I had to call HR on the way to a job interview and tell them I got lost. They directed me there, and I showed up 30 minutes late for my interview.
In the end, much to my total amazement, I got offered the job. Haven’t had that dream since then.
