Man. I want one of the new iMac G5s. They’re so sleek and pretty and I want one and drool.
I have a dell Inspiron 5100. Anyone want to trade me one of those or one of the sleek, tantalizing, pretty metally powerbooks?

Well, I’m currently using a 12" powerbook to prop up my 17" powerbook, but my wife might be a little miffed if I traded it away.
I have a PowerMac G4 and a iBook, but sadly no G5.
I’ve also got an (aging) G4 PowerMac tower, and lust for a brand, spanking new G5 tower! Those things are fabulous!
I’ve got a 400 Mhz Pismo and have been considering a new Powerbook, mostly for digital photography. But they’re just a wee bit too damned expensive and not quite fast enough to make it worth giving up a perfectly good machine. (Also, I’m not enthralled with the flat metal look – it’s boring.) The G5’s, on the other hand, are fast enough, but you can’t lie on the couch and surf wirelessly with a G5. So I may have to wait until a G5 Powerbook comes out. On the bright side, I won’t be tempted to spend money and time on any games because pretty much every recent release requires more horsepower than the Pismo can provide.
My husband and I had matching ancient G-3s. His hard drive went south so he got a new g-5 and I’m stuck with this old relic. :dubious: Aren’t girls always suposed to get the new stuff?
Gee, we just upgraded the home Mac Clone 600 to an ancient G3 from the office cast-offs and we’re happy!
At work they keep rolling around the idea of getting me one of the G5s but nothing so far. Not one to wait patiently, I have been modleing one out of clay to use as a voodoo/fetish. Some day…some day…
I got a G5 here at work. The whole office is slowly shifting away from PCs.
I love it. When it’s time to get a new home computer, it’ll be Mac.
G5 at work, eMac G4 at home. I love it how neither computer is more than 4 months old and they decide to bring out those new bad boys. Boo!
I’d bet on a new Powerbook/iBook being out in the new year too, judging by the bother I had ordering one the other week for work.
The iBooks got a speed bump, and wireless is now standard, and a price drop last week.
My iBook is less than 4 months old, and already they have a faster, cheaper, better model.
Don’t get me started about G5 PowerMacs.
At least I don’t have to use windows, except at work
When most people plan to spend their lottery winnings, they start with a house, car, crap like that.
I’m marching straight down to Market Street, to the Apple Store, and getting a dual G5 tower with a 30" wide-screen, flat-screen Apple cinema display with all the fixins. I will not be seen for at least seven months after that.
As it is now, I have an aging G3 iMac, bondi blue. I had to choose between a CD burner or a DVD player. Before that, I had a Mac IIsi, a Mac Classic, and an Apple II clone.
So. My christmas list to my parents goes:
G5 Powermac or iMac. I’m not picky.
Powerbook. Or a lot of money so I can buy a G5 powerbook when they come out.
(You know what’s bad is that I don’t even do graphics editing or video editing or play graphics-intensive games. well… one. DDR. I just can’t stand having a slow computer. )
I kind of want a Mac. To my left I have a mostly-gutted Performa 575 I’m probably going to turn into an art project. But I want a decent PowerMac or maybe an old iMac. Something about G4 power.
I’m not going to run MacOS on it, though. During my brief experience with MacOS 9, I managed to crash it more often than I did my old Cyrix 233 running Windows 98 (which would not give me a blue screen of death, oh no, it would spontaneously reboot.) I hear Debian runs well on Apple hardware.
OSX is a different kettle of fish to OS9. OS9 won’t run natively on a G5 but even if it did, Debian would still be more solid. It wouldn’t beat OSX though.
Oooooh! Looky!
So that’s why they were snapping up all of the new 60 gig drives from Toshiba.
Like I haven’t spent enough money at Apple already.
Well, honestly, I just want a regular iPod. The color ones are so much more expensive. (Although it’s sad… even the 40gig iPods are bigger than my hard drive.
