Signatures

Are signatures disabled on these boards?

They can be, just go to User CP/edit options/Visible post elements, and check or uncheck sigs.

That’s why I’m asking–I had already investigated the user CP, and found that option, and noted that sigs are already checked off as visible. Yet I see no signatures, including my own.

Wait, now I see that I can see other people’s signatures, but not my own. What would cause that?

Maybe you are confused on how to use it? They’re a little tricky.
Beneath the text box when you are replying to a thread, there is an “Additional Options” box down below, click-Show your signature

You have to click it again if you preview your post.

Some guidelines about signatures:

They should be short. No more than four lines, including blank lines. Brevity is the soul of wit.

They should be appropriate for all forums.

They are to follow the general guidelines for posting (don’t be a jerk, don’t use for advertising your store, etc.)

Don’t use your sig more than once per page, in the case of long threads. For short threads, once is quite enough. This is one of the reasons why we have set the board to NOT show a sig unless the poster checks the box.

Your sig is part of your profile. If you change your sig, then all the postings you’ve made with that sig will change to reflect the new sig.
