Is there a way to make your sig show up with every post, instead of “whenever I remember to check the box that I almost never notice”? I would really like to clear up any lingering questions about my gender.

But you could do a “Ask the Girl Other Posters Mistake for a Guy” thread to clear things up and/or have a few laughs.
Some people use their locations or other parts of their profile field to clear up that kind of confusion. The default for signatures is off, and the staff here has always asked people to use the sigs no more than once per thread. Seeing them with every post gets a little annoying, frankly.
You can manually type “Malleus, Incus, Stapes! (I’m female, yo!)” or some such at the end of each of your posts as a sort of pseudo sig, if you like.
And then get Pitted for it less than a week later. 
All the better to get the word out she’s a woman? 
Hmmm, you might be on to something here. I could use a little publicity myself to also get my gender a little more correctly known. Nevermind how often I feel like I say I’m a guy, or things I’m doing with girls or whatever.

Do remember that, in grammatical English, “he” is the default singular pronoun when gender is unknown (or when using singular pronoun involved with a group of people.) I know, it’s sexist as hell, but it’s a tradition. Using “they” as the singular pronoun seems wrong.
Or you could just append the following to every post:

Well – using “they” as a singular seems wrong to some people, but using “he” as a default seems wrong to others (including me). Grammatical “correctness” is a fluid thing, which changes over time, and traditions sometimes cease to be observed.
Hard to tell through all those bees.
Wierdaaron’s plugin can handle that (if he ever updates the database again). Right now I see an icon on every one of your posts that tells me you are religious. On my posts, there’s also an icon that says I am male.
Oh, and sorry I’ve had your gender mixed up for so long! I’ve even called you “Earbones boy” before. Your name is a bit long to use repeatedly in one post.
Incidentally, how would you prefer we shorten your name? Heck, that could be a thread. Off to IMHO (since it would sorta be a poll).
