signs of rust on the family truckster

So, we have a 1999 Mercury Villager with dual sliding doors. As I was washing it the other day I noticed strips of orange-y rust along the bottn of both sliding doors. One has a nice raised blister that hasn’t turned orange yet. So, at 9 years old and 116K miles, it’s not exactly a cream puff, but we have taken good care of it and a new car just isn’t a good idea right now. And rust doesn’t prevent a car from running anyway. So, I hate the idea of driving a rust bucket, but I’m sure the repairs could be expensive and I don’t see that spending $1000 or whatever on a cosmetic problem.

I think we will probably get is looked at just for an estimate. And at some point we’ll get the transmission looked at, too, it shifts out of first a little oddly, and the gas pedal sticks sometimes as well.

Uh huh.

Mrs. Daddy wants a new car.
