Sigs from The Princess Bride

We’ll never survive.
Nonsense. You’re only saying that because no-one ever has.

Inconceivable!

Last night, just after posting to this thread, I went downstairs and turned on the television. And right there, on Fox Movie Channel, was The Princess Bride. I’d missed the first two minutes. Really, you can take almost any line out of that movie, and it will work as a sig.

And it sure sounded like “hippopotamic” to me.

The chocolate coating makes it go down easier.

“Life is pain…” was my signature for a while a few years back. Do I win?

(I also have a cat named Inigo, had a catfish–that lived 11 years–named Fezzik, and just bought a new catfish that we named, of course, Vizzini.)

Now I don’t have sigs visible, so I don’t bother much anymore with thinking of sig lines, but I second–er, third–“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

I challenge you to a battle of wits.

Anybody want a peanut?

“You keep using that word…” or “Have fun storming the castle” would be mine. I actually use those a lot in real life.

Yes, you’re very smart. Now shut up.

Is this a kissing book?

May I live a thousand years, and never hunt again.

“Maahwidge”

not really sig-worthy, but one of my favourite lines is in the credits:

“Soundtrack and Original Music by Mark Knopfler”

You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you.

You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.

and

Australia is entirely peopled with criminals,

Who says that, and when?
Thanks.

“[L]ife isn’t fair. It’s just fairer than death, that’s all.”

Last line of the book (the good parts version, of course).

Humperdink to Buttercup upon her offer to surrender when they are surrounded at the forest.

Yep. Buttercup says (to Humperdinck) “Do you promise not to hurt this man?” (Referring to Westley) and Humperdinck says “May I live a thousand years and never hunt again!”

As for the OP, I think the ideal sig line would be defined by what forum you are in. If you are in GD, then clearly, it would be “We are men of action, you and I; lies do not become us”.

My friend’s favorite quote.

*Can you move?

Move? You’re alive! If you like I can fly.*

Makes me right schmoopy, I tell you.
