One just destroyed my processing plant, hospital, and university. Luckily for me, I’m finally back in the green.
I was talking to Athena on Origin chat about Dead Space, the zombies in space game, when suddenly zombies poured out of my hospital. Braaaiins!
I had a final this evenening so I let my city run while I took it. I come back three hours later to find my town completely bankrupt (I had 1.5 mil in the bank) and my nuclear reactor in meltdown. Oh, and all my industry was gone.
The good news is the airport is finally complete!
How is Dead Space? I was thinking of getting it for my freebie.
I quite like it actually. The ship corridors are appropriately dark and twisty. Lots of jump scares, of course. You’re supposed to shoot off the limbs of the necromorphs, rather than just shooting them in the face. (Some of them don’t even have faces.) You can scrounge for parts and craft your own guns. I was surprised at the minigames it sometimes gives you to, e.g. open doors; made for a nice change of pace.
I think my city’s bugged. I can’t find a single delivery truck within the city. My mine’s storage is full while my storage facility is sitting empty.
Try turning off the garages, letting the city run for a bit, then turning them back on.
Hey all, still getting to grips with the game.
I made a google spreadsheet to try and track everyone’s names so I know who to accept in my friends list. It’s not a public document but you can access it through the link below;
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgCsovfY0qP2dDFKQTc0OGQ3elg0MVJJdUJGQWtWb2c&usp=sharing
Please feel free to add your details!
Some further research indicates that this is indeed a bug, caused by demolishing the building while the vehicles are out. The good news is that Maxis knows about this and is working on a fix. The bad news is that they’ve known about this for a while and still haven’t fixed it.
Since I have the full list of Dopers, I was going to fill in the info, but the file seems to be set to read-only.
Whoops! Try now.
I made a few corrections here and there, but you mostly got the names right. Athena may or may not show up as Bryllyn on your friends list (she doesn’t on mine) but her Origin profile does say Bryllyn and that’s her moniker in-game.
I’m having quite a bit of fun transitioning Terminus Isle from being an oil drilling wasteland to making shiny TVs and computers. I built a garbage handling facility and am burning my garbage away. I planted some trees to take care of ground pollution, but most of it eventually went away on its own. My Sims have stopped complaining about being sick all the time.
I tore down an oil well and built an electronics plant in its place. We’re now exporting TVs to the arcology. I also tore down one of my refineries and installed a smelter, the better to make metal (for the arcology) and alloy (to make TVs). I still have one oil well active, as the oil field hasn’t completely dried up.
Damn. That’s depressing. I’ll probably bankrupt my city then just start a new one, or something.
I’d send you some simoleons, but your city isn’t connected to mine. There are still a couple of open slots over in Cluster C.
New Ceciltopia currently has a population of 1,439,706. Cluster B has allegedly completed the International Airport. I say allegedly because I can see no evidence of anything in region view; it’s still a blank circle of grass where the airport should be.
The arcology in Cluster A is very slowly making its way to completion. All necessary metal has been shipped. It just needs a few thousand more crates of TVs before Phase 2 can be initiated.
In other news, that_don_guy has joined the region, establishing the city of Port Donburgh in Cluster C. Townsville suffered a catastrophic meltdown of their nuclear power plant. All that’s left of the site is a glowing pile of ash.

Yeah, our cities are receiving the benefits, tourists, and such.
And correction, Townsville suffered multiple catastrophic meltdowns.
Is it too late? I just now downloaded the game. My name is MsRobynSDMB.
I took Straussburg Isles in Cluster C. I was going to push through my bugged city, but my police aren’t working now, either. I’m trying to figure out how to abandon Townsville.
I’m turning this new city into a small oil town. Other C residents, do we need anything in particular? I was thinking of doing the solar farm.
What’s the trick to getting low value, high density residential?
Since Ponderosa Heights is now borked, and since I couldn’t find another site, I started another 16-city region. This one is Ceciliana, and it’s invite only. If you’re interested, my user name is MsRobynSDMB. It’s on the same server.
If you look at Terminus Isle, you 'll see tenements all over the place. I’m not really sure how I managed to accomplish that aside from zoning the areas. I notice that your town has a lot of high land values - that’ll certainly attract the patricians.
Turn off your university. That thing is expensive and you don’t have nearly the population to support it. You might also want to turn off your grade school as well.
