Simcity 5 Doper region organizing thread

I’ve started a new city in a new region, residential upwind of industrial. I’m getting HUGE amounts of air pollution in my residential. As there are no other cities in the region, this makes no sense. The only thing I can think of is that there is a bug that makes the wind blowing downstream reappear at the upstream border. Really frustrating.

There are plenty of youtube videos and articles on “SimCity air pollution bug” but I can’t access them from here at work. It looks like some people are also having new problems with overflowing pollution since the patch.

That reminds me, here’s a tip I learned while trying to read up on the patch. This is for when you need to free up room for your garbage dump.

If you’ve unlocked the Lizard disaster, when he appears randomly he normally rampages across your city to the dump. But if you trigger the event manually, you can choose where he spawns. So if you need to free up garbage space, plop a Giant Lizard right next to your dump. He will eat a lot of garbage without creating the ground pollution that bulldozing will create.

Hey, guys. There are still a few who reserved a slot but still haven’t claimed a site in Patch Adams. I’ll give you this weekend to set up a city, then I’ll open it up to everyone (in a Doper free-for-all).

I went ahead and started the Arcology, even though I haven’t been able to produce enough processors yet to unlock TVs. Once we have the metal and alloy we need I’ll go back to making processors again.

So I’ve got a city of people dying to pollution over on the left hand side, where I haven’t got anything producing pollution. I put the air pollution layer on, and clouds of pollution seem to just form at random and hover over my residents houses.
Then I’ve got the population screen telling me there are thousands of unfilled jobs at all wealth levels, whilst I’ve got people moving out because they’ve got no money and city hall telling me to ‘create more jobs!’.
I’m just so frustrated with this, I think I will give up.

So…
I recently bought the game and have been playing single player mode for a couple of weeks.
I’m interested in joining a multi-player game now.
Any new games starting up?
Can I join an existing game?

NiceGuyJack, I sent you a friend request on Origin. You’ll need to accept it and log in to the NA East 2 server so I can invite you to the Doper region.

I’ve invited NiceGuyJack as well as everyone else on my friends list into Patch Adams. The region is now on a free-for-all, first-come-first-served basis. Go nuts!

Thanks!
I’ve started a new city.
Please feel free to visit New Jack City!
By the way. Thanks to my neighbors in Greater Concavity and Fitzroy.
I had no idea when I claimed my site, but there was already a Solar Farm built in this corner!
Power is obviously not going to be a problem in NJC!
Cheers!

Patch 3.0 has gone out. Among other things, it’s got some more traffic fixes:

The air pollution bug from the last patch is also supposed to be fixed.

That’s great. I can’t wait for the patch that gives us bigger cities.

In case anyone still cares, Patch 4.0 is coming out tomorrow. It is going to re-enable the Global Market and Leaderboards. Early adapters will get a new park and everyone is going to get access to a new region.

I’ll give it a look.

It’s been a few weeks since I logged in (been playing a lot of Need for Speed) but I’ll check it out.

The patch doesn’t appear to have fixed many (any?!) of the game-breaking, flawed simulation issues.

Looks like there’s a Sim Amusement Park DLC now. Just what I need crowding up my already crowded tiny city plots for $9.99.
