Simcity 5 Doper region organizing thread

Podunkon’s proud high-speed train and ferry system will be sure to have stops at Wolf’s Island.

(Probably I have to run my sim a bit after you set up stuff.)

Are you only able to interact with cities in your little pod? I haven’t really messed with regional stuff yet.

It’s funny you took a pic of the protesters. I can never manage to appease them, either. At this point, I’m not sure what I can do outside of call in the national guard and have them all shot. We can do that, right?

The game is flipping gorgeous, no doubt. Unfortunately, my city is on track to be a pollution nightmare, so I probably won’t have much in the way of inspiring vistas to take photos of.

Oho! Don’t dump your oil in my pristine wetlands.

No need to recall the truck. It’ll probably just sit there for eternity.

If there is room, could you invite me! I’m jenniferrobot.

Ok, in all honesty, should I buy this game right now? I liked Sim City 4.

I’ve played every SimCity and found that building a functional city is much easier with this one. If you like the idea of being able to follow every sim, even when they’re driving, get this!

Nope, still don’t see you. Make sure you join the NA East 2 server and try again.

Sent you a friend request. I haven’t heard back from either Silophant or Lips Obsession, so if you can get on before them, you’re in!

I’m still holding a couple of slots open for our friends Down Under (Eliahna) and across the pond (sandra_nz).

In other news, Skammer couldn’t get back into Cotton Bend so it looks like that city is completely kaput. He’s gone and taken Plainsville (former Harper Plains) instead.

If you can get past the server issues, the game is really, really good. As I’ve posted before, the simulation is quite deep and region play (when it works) brings something quite new to the franchise.

Remember when I said, Podunkton is an oil town, and will always be an oil town? Well, I have one word for you, just one word: plastics.

The scientists at Podunkton Tech have made a new invention, one sure to revolutionize power generation in all of Ceciltopia: the Concentrated Solar Array! We should charge the lot of you through the nose for the plans for this, but inside some dogooder is making us provide the plans for free. Enjoy!

If you are facing server issues, for some inexplicable reason, launching the program with “run as administrator” did seem to help.

Built myself a cool Dutch windmill in the hopes of snagging some tourist dollars, but my low-class visitors only seem to be interested in shopping. Would it kill you guys to snap some pictures while you wait for the bus? If things don’t turn around, I’m going to have to shut it down as that thing is just leaching money.

I started over tonight, since I couldn’t get back into Cotton Bend/Bear River. My new city of Plainville is doing well…really well in fact. Money is rolling in thanks to the oil and coal deposits. I’m not sure I know how to upgrade my roads though.

I’d also like to know. I was on the fence about buying it for this weekend, but I think I’ll hold off. Online chatter indicates that SimCity is having more launch problems than North Korea.

I see Polygon has altered its review of SimCity, in light of the server issues and the way EA have removed game features: SimCity (2013) Overview | Polygon

So we’re down to the last few slots in the region. I’m really glad I set up a 16-city region. I sent Eliahna an invitation; hopefully she can get on. sandra_nz, are you still in?

Johnny Bravo, did you snag Spooner Plains? At this point, I’d really like to keep it to one city per Doper now as I’ve got some more requests to join the region.

I got in and accepted the invite in between cooking dinner and corralling the children. I hope I’m still in when I get back to the computer in 10 or so minutes.

Yeah. It asked me if I wanted to see a tutorial on claiming a new region, and when I clicked yes it literally forced me to go through with it. Then the servers crashed and I couldn’t get back in to abandon it. I’ll drop it as soon as I’m able (hopefully right now).

Yes! Remember that the game is only released in the UK today!
