Simcity 5 Doper region organizing thread

Come shop at the Terminus Wetlands! We have a variety of commercial buildings to fulfill all your shopping needs! Fun for the whole family! But leave your cars behind or you’ll never get out again. Seriously, we have buses.

I’ve discovered that the region view also has data layers. The other three cities in my cluster (Sapleton Forest, Willocrest, and Marshlanding) are all sending their Sims over to shop in my city. I knew my paltry population alone couldn’t support those enormous towers of steel and glass. Thanks for the tax revenue, guys!

Wolfman, I received the same message last night. I chose “rollback” and this morning discovered I had lost one little chunk of ten minutes of play I managed to squeeze in between server crashes.

Podunkton otherwise seems to be doing fine. I need more tourism, though. Better save up some simoleons and plop down some [del]cheesy landmarks[/del] monuments to my city’s greatness.

There is one weird problem I found when I hopped on briefly this morning – my recycling center reports “nothing to recycle”; it was wasting money so I closed it. But, wtf? My city is over 50k now, so I find “nothing to recycle” rather hard to believe. Any ideas? I need something sustainable for when the oil runs out.

Perhaps my garbage trucks are too numerous and efficient! I’ll have to try getting rid of a couple.

I’ve just completed a survey and unfortunately it looks like your city didn’t get saved. Here’s the state of Ceciltopia as of a few minutes ago:
Cluster A

Terminus Wetlands - TerminusEst920
Sapleton Forest - Pleonasticity
Willowcrest - Jragonmiris
Marshlanding - KinthalisT

Cluster B

Moss Yell - LSkywatcher68
Wolf Island - wolfman1393
Harper Plains
Sawyer’s Crossing

Cluster C

Podunkton - Zaparthes [Knorf]
Kyriopolis - jstilwell13 [Kiros]
Spooner Plains
Bravasia - caleknight [Johnny Bravo]

Cluster D

Rising Sun Valley
Stackolee Ravine
Mount Olympia - Bryllyn [Athena]
Cotton Bend - ???

Spooner Plains is free again; thanks for abandoning it Lute. Cotton Bend seems to have bugged out as it doesn’t have a little head icon nor is it selectable. This was Jragon’s abandoned city, so maybe it’ll clear up when he logs in again.

Slots are filling up fast. There are five, probably six, open slots left. I still don’t see Eliahna on the in-game friends list, so I can’t send her an invitation. The game still hasn’t been released in the UK yet, so poor sandra_nz is still waiting to even play the tutorial. Together with Skammer, that makes three out of the six open slots spoken for.

Silophant and Lips Obsession, you expressed interest in joining the region but I haven’t heard from either of you. You guys still want to play?

I think the more educated Sims tend to recycle more often. Send your kids to school!

Cotton Bend is/was my city; I renamed it Bear River. I almost hope it wasn’t saved, so I can start over. I only put about an hour into it.

Well, Podunkton Tech is up and running, and I have a thriving high-tech industrial complex.

Learn to recycle, you imbeciles!

ETA. Also the bus service for the K-12 schools goes everywhere. Everyone the sims live, that is. My education map shows excellent coverage.

Kinthalis: I got a message that a truck from Marshlanding is stuck at the border. Since I don’t have a trade depot, nor have any intention of building one in the near future, that truck might be stuck there for a while. Any reason why you sent me some oil?

On one hand I feel like there’s got to be a way to just blank your city and start over, but then I realized that this could have serious repercussions on other cities in the region who might be depending on you for services.

Maybe in a week or two we should create a “New Ceciltopia” region, once we’ve figured stuff out.

I agree we should definitely start a new region in a couple weeks.

Who was it that was having water problems? I’ve heard that a sewage treatment plant will regenerate the water table. So plop it next to your water treatment plant and your worries are over. That’s right, your Sims will be drinking their own poo. You might want to use the filtered tanks.

I’ve just spent the last seven hours sleeping, and will spend the next 12 or 13 hours working and parenting, but after that I’ll give it another shot

Eliahna, if you could log in to the “North America East 2” server at least once, it should register on my in-game friends list and I can finally send you an invitation that you can accept at your leisure. You’re going to get the tutorial again, but you can quit out of it by clicking on the […] (three dots) button on the upper right.

Ok, I think I just did all that. Let me know if it worked

As mayor of the great city of Podunkton, I am pleased to announce that the Podunkton Recycling Center is now open for business, recovering and exporting plastics, metals, and alloys for the benefit of Ceciltopia industry!

ETA: And to the impoverished cupcakes complaining about ground pollution and correspondingly diminished property values in some areas: suck it. We’re here to make simoleons. Go find some some hippy commune, you nutjobs. I’m sick of your noise in front of City Hall day and night!

I envy the heck out of those of you who can play during the day, away from the server issues! I’ll get some good work done on my city at some point, but at this rate, it might not be 'till the weekend…

For me it’s just dribs and drabs. I put about 20 minutes into it at lunch, but then the server crashed. Another 15 minutes this morning, that’s about it so far today. Stupid work, getting in the way of my play time!

Pending server stability, I’ll be on a fair amount tonight.

Yeah, I sent everyone a metric ton of oil 'cause it was piling up. I couldn’t sell it on the world market fast enough, and I needed to move 9,600 barrels in one day before I could open up an Oil corporation to start refining the stuff.

I’ll see if there is some way to recall the truck.

Totally agree with this idea.

Come on over to cluster B aspiring mayors! Just a stones throw away from Wolf Island’s hospitable environs where we will be happy to entertain and amuse your citizens with shows and games, or just a relaxing weekend out of town, all for a reasonable price. We got Shakespeare here folks!

Hehe the mechanics of the game are interesting, running a tourist town with nobody around to visit is tough. My trains get an average of 0 people a day, and my ferry gets 8. I don’t know if an airport can bring in people from out side my little pod, but I don’t have room right now and don’t want to bulldoze enough to experiment.
There is a muti-day traffic jam on the interstate turning in when I turn the attractions on, but the road can’t send in enough to make them profitable, so they sit idle.

I was a little bored this afternoon, so I took some pictures of my city: A day in the life of Terminus Wetlands.
