I saw a reveiw of that movie “The Straight Story” a few months ago. The one about the fella driving across the country on a lawnmower imparting earthy wisdom to everyone he meets.

One of his gems is something to the effect “One twig you can break, but a whole bunch of them is difficult, so stick together (no pun intended)”. Jeez, I heard papa smurf say that to all the other smurfs 15 years ago. That similarity put me off going to see that movie.

Anybody else have a similar experience, especially when the first place you heard the line would be considered a lower order of entertainment?

This is not exactly the same as what you’re talking about, but Henry Fonda utters the exact same line in two different movies. He says “Is it possible?” at dramatic moments in both Fail Safe and Twelve Angry Men.
