Simple video software???

PC
Win 98se
600 Hz processor
Lots of RAM and lots of HD
I have a digital camera that takes movies also.

I am looking for a simple software that I can use to do basic editing, cut and fade and join a couple and shorten the other, type stuff and put it back together. No voice or music unless it is just there in the package.

I don’t want to have to buy a fancy video card or sound card or go to XP

Are captures images from video any good at all in a simple system?
I know I can’t get the quality I see on TV but is it worth even looking at to try to pull decent shots from movie files? Would it be better than doing screen shots like I can now?

I know nothing about the video world. Can hold my own with still photography, both film and digital.

All ideas welcome.

How much are you willing to spend?

There are low end products like Pinnacle’s products here. There are other brands you can get that are similar. They will do almost anything you’d want, in terms of basic trimming and splicing and output.

You may also find cheaper copies of earlier versions on eBay.

You will need a firewire card, though.

Thanks, that is sorta what I had in mind…

Anyone else have some imput?
