I just have to say I’m a huge Simpsons fan…I love them. But…uh, did anyone notice anything a bit…i don’t know, INCREDIBLY FUCKING BIZARRE about the last Halloween episode? Okay, the whole Homer Can’t Get Into Heaven- fine, I guess…the second one, with the Grim Tales…a bit dark…now we come to the infamous dolphin episode. I have to admit. I was laughing my ass off…but still…it was just so…surreal? I can’t explain it. It definitely made me feel a bit odd watching it. And the ending, with the Springfielders in the ocean, that was a bit obvious. I don’t know. I didn’t hate it; don’t get me wrong…but still…please tell me you know what I mean?
I got the exact same feeling. From the very beginning with the Munsters spoofe
I liked it…
It seemed more like an episode of “The Simpsons is Hell” than “The Simpsons”.
Is Groenig is returning to his roots ?
While I loked it, my kids were a little freaked by the blood coming out from under the door. the Simpson family being murdered by the mob and the devil scene especially. They usually are fine with the I&S stuff etc., but this episode was a little more graphic.
My opinion-- Good but not as family friendly as previous episodes.
Also I think the dolphin sketch had a lot more potential
I thought it was one of the best H’ween eps in a while. I’m not sure I want to know about “that testicle thing”, though.
The dolphin thing was a flop, but the other two were pretty good.
Homer = a chicken at the end, laying eggs? Ahh…
Plus these episodes didn’t seem very Halloween-y. More just very strange random things.
But while we’re on the subject, the Simpsons is beginning, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION (see, this thread does belong here!), to deteroiate. Like that jockey/Duncan episode? Ahh…
Zoggie, surely you aren’t referring to the episode where all the jockeys are evil gnomes? I LOVED that one!! I still crack up when I think about the gnome hissing at the other jockeys…
Personally, I feel it was rather funny, but definitly less Halloweenish and family friendly. I mean, hearing Goldilocks scream and seeing ?her blood from inder the door? And the cooking of the witch?
I must, though, I liked the Homer not into heaven one. Especially when Agnus dies. (It means lamb! Lamb of God!)
My favorite part was the Kodos and Kang cameo at the end. “Do you want to do an Old Navy commercial” indeed!
Jeeez.
What do you expect from a Simpsons Halloween special? Have you seen many of the previous ones? They’re all pretty dark. If you have young/impressionable kids it’s probably best to avoid these specials all together.
BTW,
I just want to get into heaven Mardge,
I’m not running for Jesus.
What a great line!
What do I expect? A hell of a lot…and I didn’t mind it being dark…
The not running for Jesus line was good. I rather liked the Munster part. It just seemed a bit too slapstick for me at times…
Homer: Well I’ll be damned…
St. Pete: Yes.
Homer: [falling thru trapdoor] Aahh!
Loved it.
Great episode–how can you not like Homer’s cunnilingus reference in the Grimm Tales segment?
I’m glad I’m not the only one who caught that!
Couldn’t miss it…
Mmmmm, sugar walls…
There were a few other excellent moments, but I thought the whole thing was a little flat…
Homer: Geesh Marge, I’m just trying to get into heaven, I’m not running for Jesus.
The Dolphin getting caught in the volleyball net and getting slapped by the other dolphin.
Lenny: Night swimming and alcohol, the perfect combination…
The Halloween special wasn’t as family friendly as previous ones? I guess I’m the only one who remembers a poisonous gas that made them turn inside out. While the family dances, their blood spatters everything, then Santa’s Little Helper started eating Bart’s intestines (I think it was Bart). Remember when they had Marge come out before the show aired to warn parents about the content of the Halloween show?
Tretiak - I laughed my ass off at the dolphin in the volleyball net. (“They’ve got nets! It’s a trap!”)
It didn’t seem very Halloween-ish to me though, as has been said before, just a couple of weird stories.
I love the Halloween shows. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone had an outlet for that sick stuff that’s in our heads?
The reference to “The Birds” in the dolphin show was super.
I thought the King dolphin might reward Lisa for freeing him, but nooooooooooo.
What was it? Come on I have to know!! Cunnilingus…I’m interested now.
