Simpsons hits new low in syndicated episode timing!

On Tuesday, March 12th, again 6 months (and one day) after 9/11, NYC gets the episode where Homer goes into space. And where he refers to “Barney-let’s-crash-the-rocket-into-the-White-House-and-kill-the-President Gumble.”

Maybe this was funny when they made it, but I don’t think it should be shown anymore.

I presume this is a troll, but just in case it isn’t:

These things have to be taken in context. Try it, it works.

Annie had the same gripe with Seinfeld on Monday. It is purely a coincidence. Lets not get the Thought Police involved.

Its a real stretch on that one. The Simpson episode re: the WTC maybe, but come on. . . .

-me

I agree with everyone so far (though I think the troll comment is a bit extreme).

Annie-Xmas, I see what your saying but I do not think that we need to censor older tv shows and movies due to the events of 9/11. I think if the episode was made today the creators probably would not have written that line in however it was written well before 9/11.

6 months after the fact is nothing, anniversary or not.

Our local station showed the gun one, where Honer buys a gun at BloodBath and Beyond, one day after the Columbbine shootings. That was an “oops.”

There is a solution…

We must form an online petition protesting the airing of all vaguely controversial episodes of television programs on the anniversaries (or dates with similar numbers in then) of national tragedies. Problem solved!

Or we could all just stop watching so much goddamned television…

Today’s episode of the Simpson’s had Maggie in it! don’t they know i don’t have children yet? What a slight by Matt Groening! And Homer and Marge being married, what an insult to us singles! I say remove all episodes where there are children and the parents are married, otherwise i’ll file a class action lawsuit!

Oh…My…God…!

Terrible! Just Terrible!
I must clean my toenails!
What was the OP about again?

I have to agree with everyone else. Calling this episode ‘offensive’ in any way is a little (read as: extrmely) extreme. I hope that you are merely joking, Annie-Xmas.

PAIN! PAIN! Oh, this episode causes me PAIN in the GLAYVIN.

mmHEy.

:wally

Luckily the reports of the death of most people’s sense of humour like irony was greatly exaggerated.

It’s just a cartoon, let’s just give our indignation a rest for a few moments… there now don’t we feel better.

You there, upthread.

You’re going straight to hell for all thost dots, you know.

The who went where in the what now?

That’s nothing…last night here they showed the episode where Bart got to go on a ride-along with the police. They were sideswiped by a speeding Snake and said “Let’s roll!”

It’s shameful the way they’d exploit the phrase “let’s roll” like that!

::sigh::

It’s reading stuff like the OP that makes me believe that Political Correctness will never die.

I think the proper term is clinically cease living.

Really? I could have sworn the PC way of referring to the dead was vitality-challenged.

How about extended lack of pulse?
