Simpsons: Is it true that Comic Book Guy's name has never been revealed?

Today in the *NY Post * they state that the Simpson’s episode that will air on Superbowl Sunday will reveal CBG’s real name for the first time ever.

Really? Wasn’t it mentioned before, maybe during the episode in which he and Principal Skinner’s mom get it on?

It’s true, he’s never been named on air.

Nope-- everyone uses impersonal pronouns to refer to him. Sometimes it’s very conspicuous, like the follow-up to that episode, when CBG moves in on Edna, further tormenting Skinner. “You! What are you doing here?”

No, but the Sea Captain’s last name is McAlister (not sure of spelling)

It’s McAllister. And he’s also not a real Captain.

Actually, I’ve heard characters, on more than one occasion, refer to him directly as Comic Book Guy.

My guess is that his name is Charles Bartholomew Guy.

His card reads C. B. Guy and everyone thought it stood for comic book.

I saw an episode over the weekend and the TV reporter was visiting her old hometown (Springfield) and she refered to him as “Comic Book Guy.”

But Charles is Burns’s first name, and Bartholomew is some other character in the show’s name (gee, I wonder who?).

But maybe you’re on the right track. Maybe he’s Colin Brian Guy or whatever.

There’s the episode where Homer’s chartering a bus to go to a ballgame, and Lisa reads “Comic Book Guy” off the list of passengers he’s signed up, but the joke is that they’re all peripheral characters that Homer doesn’t really know, (ie; “The sea captain, the kid with the squeaky voice, the comic book guy, the guy in the bumblebee suit…”) but what are the other instances?

(There’s another episode where they’re pretty coy about CBG’s name – he’s asking someone for an autograph and says “Please make out one to me, and three more to my friends who also are named the same as me.”)

Other instances, I mean, besides the one that Maxx recalled that I overlooked.

In a comic books collectors’ magazine, in an interview with Groening, his name was revealed.
