Make your predictions. What do you think they will do?
Judging by the recent episode, the end is near (figurativly), I just wanted to ask if anyone had anything they would like to see happen.

They’ve got at least a year left, so even if that’s the last year it’s not like they’re setting us up for anything.
I dunno about the set-up but this has GOT to be in the last two minutes.
Homer gets struck on the head by a golf ball, loses consciousness. He awakens to a dark room. When the lights come on, he is revealed to be in the same scratchy animated style that was the hallmark of the old Tracey Ullman show. He says to the lump next to him, “Marge! Marge! I’ve had a bizzare dream. I was loud and stupid and an astronaut and a rock star and was captured by aliens and was PRESIDENT and I met my long-lost twin brother, and my long lost fugitive mother and oh, the time travelling doughnuts! And all the guest stars! I invented tomacco! Oh, it was all so real. Marge? Marge? M–Hey you’re not Marge! You’re some old guy.”
To which Bob Newhart replies, “I, uh, already did this bit. A-a-and it was funnier.”
Actually, IIRC, Matt Groening has already written the very last ever episode back in 1989, locked it in a case and plans to use it when needed.
Really? I’d be happy if it ended, then, just to see a decent episode again.

Almost, how about Homer waking up and he’s back on the Tracey Ullman Show. It would end with Tracey telling everyone to go home.
Askia, that’s brilliant.
Aw. I like your compliment so much I’m gonna bump this thread and fish for more!
Honesty compels me to admit that Newhart’s ending was brilliant. My homage is merely deep affection.
Anybody else got any ideas? Maybe Maggie will talk again.
I’d be really happy if all of the folks who don’t seem to like The Simpsons anymore (yet somehow watch every episode-strange) would stop shitting all over every Simpson’s thread on these boards.
Weirddave, you took the words right out of my mouth. Or, err, typed the words right off of my keyboard.
What do you mean judging by the latest episode? I didn’t see it, what happened?
Sideshow Bob gets his revenge on Bart.
Krust ritres for good.
Hank Scorpio returns and gives Homer his dream job back.
Hear hear.
This was actually proposed on a previous thread on the subject.
Due to Burns’ evil and greed and/or Homer’s blundering, the Power Plant is finally about to blow. So all of Springfield is evacuated. They sing as they leave, a la the end of “Fiddler on the Roof”.
Judging by the May 9th episode, Homer will be brought up on child-molestation charges by Milhouse’s mom. Yikes!
My dream Simpson’s ending contains an appearance by Phil Hartman and an apology for every season beginning with 1997.
In defense of those that crab about The Simpsons on these boards: The decline of the show has really been a heart wrenching experience. The show was once the best show that had ever been on television. For me, it took many years to finally move on and to realize that my old friend was gone. I was able to give it up three years ago. I do allow myself one or two episodes a year though, just to make sure nothing’s changed.
So, please forgive us our derision. We once loved, too much…and had our hearts broken.
While I admit things have only gotten stranger since Homer was raped by that panda, and that they appear to have discontinued all efforts at continuity…
it’s still a good show!
I don’t even want to think of it ending.
I don’t know how else to put this, but forgive my shorts. I’ll wager that I love the show as much as anybody, and I still like watching it. There’s no excuse for the constant threadcrapping.
Please forgive us our derision?!?!
Stick it in your ear.
If you finally realized that your old friend was gone, then why even bother to allow yourself one or two episodes a year, just to make sure nothing’s changed?
Do you somehow expect them to bring Phil Hartman back from the dead?
So according to you the last 7 seasons have been absolute garbage, correct?
I bet you’re pining for the days when Conan O’Brian was writing for the show, even though none of his stuff ranks in the Top 25 episodes.
Here’s some advice: every Sunday night at 8:00 PM, instead of turning on the Tv, how’s about you go for a walk outside for about 45 minutes.
It would both you and those of us who are true fans of the show a lot of good.
You might actually get in some semblance of shape and we wouldn’t have to read your same old same old “The Simpsons suck. They should have been cancelled back in 1997” blathering drivel.

Because we all know 1989 was the show’s best season. This actually serves to confirm my Simpsons Theorem, posted here in February:
“Based on the opinions of fans, the show is terrible and has been getting progressively worse every episode. So the best episode ever was the first one, and it sucked too- in fact, it was the worst thing in the history of television except for all the subsequent episodes. So I conclude that nobody has ever enjoyed the Simpsons, and it’s possible that nobody has ever watched it.”
