So back to the OP, very nearly buried in the midst of posts by Simpson detractors/defenders:
Although I like Osiris’s idea of having everything suddenly jump ahead (and I have enjoyed past episodes where everyone’s older, especially Ralph), I’ve become attached to the relative stasis of the Simpsons and Springfield, where the passage of time is basically meaningless apart from current jokes, of-the-moment guest voices, and Starbucks springing up all over the mall. So for the moment, I’m comfortable.
