Sims 3

I’m considering getting a Macbook Pro (one of the new 13 inch ones that used to be a Macbook until, like, yesterday) to replace my 5 year old PowerBook. Will it run Sims 3 in a non-annoying way?

At low settings, yes, I think you’ll be fine.

Yeah, a lot of people have run into forms of this lovely bug. People drive off with babies and toddlers that are never seen again. Or sims leave the kids inside (?) the rabbit hole buildings and they get eaten or something. I haven’t seen a solution yet. Guess we’re stuck waiting for the patch on that one. :frowning:

What happens when teens become young adults? With no Sims 3 University do they get an option to go off to school or just keep on going in game working?

I’m beginning to think one of my sims is going loopy. She reached elder status, but I still sent her to work. I was watching the other simes in the house when she walked in jumped in the shower. Her hygiene was low, but not superlow. Then I realized…she’s missing work! She came home early! (and she had just gotten an opportunity that required her to be there.). I sent her back to work, but hours went by and she should be home. It was almost 2 AM. I checked on her, she was downtown playing her guitar for money on the street…of course no one was there to even given her simoleans.

I picked this up the other day on a whim at Target. I had Sims forever, but never got Sims 2. As such, I am enjoying this version much, much more. I was kind of worried it wouldn’t run as my PC is at or just over the recommended specs for the game. The box says that the Nvidia 6100 graphics card isn’t supported, but it is running on my 6150 LE anyway, just at the lowest levels.

Unfortunately I’ve been spending way too much time with it the last 3 days I’ve had it.

My non-elder sims does this too - the second my finger is off the controls he’s standing there strumming away!

I’ve noticed something odd about the game as well -
My Sim had designs on Agnes Crumplebottom’s large cliff side home and money (er… I mean ‘her personality’), but I noticed when I visited her at home she had several moochers hanging about.

Every time I visited her.

I changed my active household to her to check it out and discovered that she had three jobless people living with her (in her one-bed house), none of whom were friends. I’d thought one must make friends to move them in - so not sure if it’s a glitch or the game shoves people into houses randomly…

I don’t think Alice and Kev has been posted here yet. It’s about two homeless Sims. It’s funny, sad, and touching at the same time.

Rich Sims throw all sorts of stuff away! My thief has found, in various cans: a gold nugget, a silver nugget, and an uncut ruby. She even raided the can at the home of her boss and somehow they managed to fit a 557kg space rock in theirs, worth §4K!

I’ve got a question. Do babies age if aging is off? I’d like my Sim to have a whole gaggle–maybe 10-- but I’ll need her not to age or her womb will fall out or something.

It only took a little experimenting to find out. The Sim you want to go into the next stage in life blows out the candles on the birthday cake.

There is an art to forcing birthdays. You do have to turn on aging to bring your Sim up to the transition age-- or maybe not.

In the options menu there is a slider that manages how many days there are in a Sim life and how many days it takes to complete a stage in a Sim life. Since I had the slider set to max time with the aging off, I’m not sure if that was why I wasn’t given the option of aging one of my babies into a toddler until I turned aging on (I also slid the timer to shortest aging for this purpose).

Before I turned aging on and tried to force the oldest toddler’s birthday, I was not given the option of having the Sim I wanted blow out the candles on the cake. I was, however, given the option of having the baby blow out the candle to become a toddler. Again, this was before I turned on aging but AFTER I slid the aging bar to minimum.

After that I could not force a birthday on either kid until I turned aging on. Not sure that was because the proper amount of time didn’t pass and the aging on was coincidental or because aging must be on to age the sim up to the appropriate time.

You should be able to force a Sim to age early by using the testing cheats. Shift-clicking a Sim with the cheats enabled brings up the option to age.

Have they increased lot size from Sims 2?
Is there a cheat to set needs permanently to maximum?

Here’s a more…twisted take on Sims 3. One man’s descent into psychological horror.

I think so. There is a smaller grid for fine-tuning object placement; lots on this grid go up to 60×60 but I don’t know how that correlates to 2.

You can make needs static by entering TestingCheatsEnabled True in the console and shift-clicking the mailbox.

Thanks Lute Skywatcher.

I wonder how many people are willing to pay for each little thing that EA puts in it’s store. I know I will never support such micro-transactions.

Wow, this is great.

Indeed; I was inspired to create my own facsimile of Alice and Bob but all they did is piss themselves and moan. Then a burglar stole both their park benches.

i’m planning on getting a new computer and i want to be able to play the sims 3 on it and i was wondering if the NVIDIA GeForce 9400GT – 1GB graphics card would work for the sims 3 and for the expansion pack?
