Sims: Bustin' Out question

I have a male a female sim living together (both Pisces), and every time I have them play in the love bed, the results are discouraging at best (booing, retching on the part of my female sim). What can I do to change this? My search of gaming boards has proven fruitless so far. Help me, Straight Dope, you’re my only hope.

Disclaimer: I’ve never gotten far enough in Bustin’ Out to get to that point, I usually played through a few houses and then wandered away to the computer, but I’ve played lots and lots of Sims and Sims 2, so I can at least try to help!

It might be a relationship problem - are they at 100’s with each other? Are they in love? In the Sims 2 couples won’t ‘woo hoo’ if they are not both in love, so maybe it’s the same in Bustin’ out? (Really, though this may be no help at all - as I haven’t played it in ages!)

Are they related?

Nope, not related, and both at 100’s. I finally got a “Woo Hoo” last night, turns out the trick was warming them up with kissing, butt slapping, etc., using the “fill all motives” blue gnome cheat, then down to business.

Thanks for the help, and to justify a bump, what aspects make Sims 2 different from Bustin’ Out? The next time I buy a Sims game, I wanna know what to look for. I don’t really want to buy Uni, but Nightlife looks good.

For one thing, Sims can Woo Hoo pretty much whenever–no foreplay needed–as long as their location allows it. Nightlife, I think, allows Sims to own cars and drive, and Woo Hoo in said car. While parked, of course.

I found Sims 2 to be a more flexible game experience. (but I’ve only played this on the pc and really my memory of what was involved with Bustin’ Out is hazy).

Nightlife is great, imho! It really beefs the social part of the game - I love having the sims deciding who they’re attracted to and who they hate. It’s a whole lot of fun taking a new sim out of the prowl downtown and seeing what happens - even if it’s bad, like them finding the mean, hideous looking old guy in the plaid shorts to be the hottest thing in the room.

A few of my married sims married very compatible people and it’s rather adorable with one of the sims always initiating making out/kissing/flirting sessions with the other and the recipient breaking up said sessions only to spontaneously congratulate the other on being so darn ‘hot’.

I know a little about the game, but I’ve never played it. In my complete lack of context, the phrase “blue gnome cheat” sounds incredibly cool. I can imagine cats, dogs, bicycles, and low-riders named Blue Gnome Cheat. Lookit that, dude, it’s the Blue Gnome Cheat!

Sims 2 is superior to Sims 1 in every way imaginable. Sims 1 didn’t hold my attention at all whereas Sims 2 was actually pretty fun. My wife is totally addicted to Sims 2 and can play it for days on end.

If you’re going from Sims 1 to 2 be ready for Object Shock as I like to call it. Sims 2 has about the same amount of items Sims 1 did without the X packs so the usable items will drop down considerably. Here’s a brief lowdown of the X packs

  1. University: Deadly dull. I mean pound your head on the desk when can I get my sim out of this place dull. BUT adds 2 extra wants to your want slots and allows you to lock another slot down. Adds a few career paths for graduated sims the most fun of which gets you a violent sim eating plant. Amusement factor on that alone is pretty high.

  2. Nightlife: Sims on dates? Eh dating is too easy if you plan ahead and I never bothered with the vampire stuff. Cars are good for going to work if you miss your ride or just for vanity’s sake. Never bothered with the rest of it.

  3. Open for Business: The Servos/Snapdragons you can make from the workbenches are overpowered (Servos are controllable sims that have fewer needs can regain power by charging in the sunlight or sleeping in beds. Snapdragons are flowers that recharge all your sim’s needs aside from Energy so you can put it near couches/beds/workbenches and recharge the sims that will be using those objects for a long time) Running a business is an interesting challenge the first time you do it. After you figure it out though it just becomes a grind to get the business rewards.

  4. Pets: I’m a cold hearted bastard but damn puppies and kittens are cute. Other then the cuteness factor though no point to this X-pack.

  5. Seasons: Solid all around. Great for sims you’re building up (with the bonuses you get in Fall for studying and Summer for building friendships) good for sims you’ve maxed out and have nothing better to do with (fishing, working in the gardens)

Stuff packs are wastes of money unless you MUST have Santa show up to eat Christmas cookies or wear H&M Clothing.

I’ve read on the forums that Santa has a tendency to be buggy, and has been known to turn up at Sim houses and spend the entire night peeing in their toilet.

Poor Santa.

[ETA: Is Busting Out part of Sims 1? I thought it was a variation of Sims 2 for console systems. If it’s Sims 1, you’re really, really going to love Sims 2 - and how.]

Yeah my wife has had the Santa doesn’t leave bug more than once. Hearing his Booming HO! HO! HO! come over the speakers every ten seconds while she plays is damned annoying.

oh I forgot to reply to this. I always understood that Bustin Out was a step up from Sims 1 but far short of Sims 2. Sort of a hybrid but if I’m wrong I’m sure someone will come by to correct me. I never played Bustin Out or Urbz (which was a spin off of Sims 2).
