Since we're talking about guys' bodies, how do you feel about chest hair?

I love hairy chests.

I have approximately 20 chest hairs, so I am glad the shaved look is in style. I shave so people won’t realize my chest hair is naturally that of a pre-pubescent girl.

Heh. Just wait a bunch of years - then you’ll have hair in places you never wanted it. And probably only 17 chest hairs.

Ooh, I had one of those in college. It was freaky. (Also Anglo-Saxon blond dude.) And no, unless I’m prepping you for surgery, I will not shave your back for you. Ever again. (Other areas are up for negotiation, however. )

The real problem was this:

Anything you shave…grows back. And it grows back sharp and pointy. OUCH! I can’t cuddle with stubble. So please, if you must remove your chest hair, man up and get it waxed, not shaved.

I prefer no hair or sparse chest hair, but I certainly wouldn’t turn down a good connection over hair. I’d rather little hair to hairy, but I’ll take hairy over shaved.

One time shortly after college, I re-hooked up with my high school boyfriend. I was totally shocked that he had grown chest hair in the meantime! It was still on the body I remembered from high school, but it freaked me out a little!

Yeah, but what about back hair?

Hey there, how’re you doing?
I’m thankful there’s still women in the world that don’t regard chest hair as an abomination from hell. :stuck_out_tongue: Reading the thread so far it seems like it’s not really that big of a deal either way, on The Dope at least.

I like a little chest hair. In fact, I kinda like body hair in general. My husband’s Italian and I like him fuzzy. He could totally rock it with some gold chains if he wanted to.

Happy trail.

My boyfriend must be the only Indian guy who naturally has almost no chest hair. (Well, he’s got about 5 chest hairs.) Trust me, it’s hot.

In general I prefer less hair to more hair to stubble. Stubble just seems weird.

If he used an epilator it wouldn’t grow back sharp and pointy either, and it’d be cheaper and quicker. (and if I can stand to use one on my inner thighs, I bet a guy would survive using it on his chest.)

I’ve also heard “hairway to heaven” for the line of hair from navel to pubis.

As for body hair on men, vive la difference! I like chest and other hair because it emphasizes the difference between me and him. However, that’s far from the only difference. I’ve been with nearly hairless to almost Yeti. It’s all good. The only time body hair has ever bothered me was when he was clammy with sweat and starting to get stinky, and that’s easily solved.

Besides, if it’s long enough to braid, I have something to occupy my evenings.

I like guys who shave their chests as much as I like guys who pluck their eyebrows, wear skinny jeans and paint their fingernails.

If I were building some vague mental conception of the 100% ideal man for me, he probably wouldn’t have chest hair. But shaving chests weirds me out, and I’ve dated more than one guy who had chest hair that I loved, for lack of a better term, petting. (What can I say–I love texture.)

I like some hair, and I like the feel of my naked chest against some chest hair - thanks guys!

My hubby is part Metis, so he has some, but not too bad. One of my exes was extremely hairy - both are good.

I’m not QUITE as militant as Oakminster, but I’m not shaving anything for anyone but myself.

Granted, lately the shoulder and back hair are starting to look odd to me personally, but hell, my wife likes it so I’m not complaining.

–Z, burly, bearded Wookie-man.

I shave the “valley” between my pecs, because my chest hair is thickest there and it looks weird to me. Hot or not?

My chest was almost totally hairless until I was about 25, and I started to wonder if my mother slept with a white guy or something.

Few people are. It’s part of the Ancient Pact between Aslan and Odin. Our power is great, but our numbers are few. In this time and place.

I’ve always been more of an “ancient pact between Aslan and Bahamut” guy myself.

I couldn’t answer the poll; I like hairy guys (anything below the 70’s porn-star shag carpet look), but you don’t have an option for that; you just have “I don’t like shaved,” and I like shaved just fine, as well as naturally hairless, sparse, slightly fluffy and everything in between.

The only caveat is that, strictly IMHO, bigger guys look better with hair than without, which is why I don’t shave.

I like 'em smooth-ish. I find my dad’s chest to be weird, and he’s pretty hairy. Come to think of it, I was a little put off by an old boyfriend who had normal amount of hair, but vastly prefer my SO’s lack of chest hair.

My younger brother (19) waxes or buzzes his chest. It looks much better, IMO. But we’re half Indian - I’ve buzzed the poor boy’s back before.

I’m someone who waxes their upper lip and eyebrows and shaves or buzzes everything else. I like the clean look. But it is cyclical, and I’m sure hairiness will come back into fashion in due time.
