Sing! Seen it Thread

There’s a part of me that thinks a thread was already started about this movie, but I can’t find it for the life of me…

This movie is definitely wholesome and good for the whole family. The singing is done well, the songs are catchy and the characters are pretty good (if not a little stereotypical).

The biggest downfall of the movie is its simplicity. Yes, it’s obviously a kids movie, but still it was suuuuuper simple. It’s as if the writer went “ok, this is the part of the movie where everyone is sad. This is the part of the movie where everyone is happy, etc.”

Another thing that really bugged me was the amount of trailers for the movie and how it ruined a lot of the fun. The movie had a huge opportunity to be funny during the auditions, but 90% of them were in various trailers, which ruined it.

I was curious as to how they were going to declare a winner of the competition when the movie invested you in all the characters. The payoff was cute, if not a bit eyerolly.

TL;DR: A simple movie that features good songs, good singing and is a great movie for every member of your family.

Still somewhat vague description by my reckoning so I’ll go with The Forbidden Zone.
Song of the South?

Saw it yesterday. I enjoyed it. It was cute and amusing, though for funny-animal films, I much preferred Zootopia. I did like most of the songs, particulary Johnny the Gorilla’s “I’m Still Standing” and the mouse’s Sinatra imitations.

Probably not something that will stick in my mind for years, but it was a nice little piece of fluff to spend an enjoyable hour and a half with.

Getting an AP update on my watch that George Michael died took a little of the fun out of it, though.
