Sing Street

Sing Street is John Carney’s latest offering. Carney is the Irish write, producer, director of Once and Begin Again.

Sing Street, set in 1980’s Dublin, is a coming of age movie about a teenage boy (Collin) whose parents change his school from a private one to the local Catholic school, because the can’t afford the private tuition any longer.

As the new kid in the all boys school, Collin must find a way to fit in. He meets a girl that lives across the street from the school and asks her if she would like to be in a music video he is making for his band. She agrees, but Collin then must form a band with music so there will be a video to shoot. With advice from his deadbeat older brother, he does just that, and tries to win the girl.

All-around a good movie, with very funny scenes of Collin and his band-mates trying to develop their style as musicians recreating the styles of many famous 80’s bands.

Highly recommend, especially if you are a fan of the 80’s.

I saw it last weekend and liked it a lot.

I saw it, too, and really enjoyed it. Just seeing the clothes and hair made me laugh, but I really enjoyed seeing the growth and changes in Conor.

Just saw it. I had a smile one my face for most of the movie.
