Singapore - any special new baby traditions?

Hi, one of my coworkers just had his first baby. My coworker and his wife are from Singapore. We would like to throw a baby shower (I know, showers should come first, it was a work timing thing) and I was wondering if there are any special traditions that I should be aware of or incorporate!

Are they Chinese?

For Chinese, there shouldn’t be any taboos or special tradition - Singaporean Chinese are pretty much comsopolitian and especially if they are a young couple, are westernized and unlikely to be superstitious. In Singapore, though, it’s the tradition for the couple to pass around eggs dyed red after one month of the baby’s birth.

Some old Chinese superstition about gifts would be not to give a clock, because the Chinese, the phrase “give clock” sounds like the phrase “holding your funeral”
