Singers: Is There Such A Thing As An Electronic "Voice Trainer"?

What I mean is something along the lines of a guitar tuner, which lets you know that when you bring a particular string into “key” it lets you know by a strobe or a green light…

This “something” would let you load a cd karaoke style and as you sing along, those same kind of lights would let you know that you’re in key with your voice.

A few years ago, I took singing lessons, but let myself get rusty by not practicing, and I was thinking this was something I could do at home, since I can’t drive myself to my coach anymore. I guess I could have her come here, but haven’t checked into the cost of this yet.

Thanks!

Don’t most Karaoke games “test” you based on how in-tune you are? So I would assume that an Karaoke program, game, part of a game like RockBand, etc, would have that measure for pitchiness…but that’s a WAG on my part.

I would be afraid to test my voice on one of those things. To me, pitch is a vicinity

Or something to use on a tarmac, Wordman?

Thanks

Exactly. When it comes to singing, my best pitch is a slider.

Ha! When I played Little League, I specialized in the knuckle ball as a pitcher. When I caught knucklers, I used this huge mitt called a “butterfly mitt”. Anyone remember those? Mainly used to stop the ball!

Thanks

Ultrastar is a free PC karaoke game. The trick is finding the songs you want to sing to practice against. Google for UltraStar songs to find txt files (you have to supply the appropriate mp3)
