My parents don’t have a disposal. So 15 years or so ago, my mom purchased a little plastic rubbermaid item which is a tray that sits in the sink with a slotted corner. So you rinse food off of plates/bowls into this thing, the water flows through, and all the crud collects, so you can then throw it all in the trash.
Now it has gotten old and gross and is falling apart, but she can’t find a new one for sale. Anyone know precisely what this item would be called so that I can google one up and purchase it for her?
thanks
There’s like a food-catcher thing that you can put in the corner of the sink, and scrape dishes into it – it holds significantly more than the dish drainer. I have no idea what it’s called, though – “food catcher” wasn’t getting me too far in google.
What you are looking for is a sink strainer. DO you have any Asian or Chinese grocery stores in your area? If so, check them out, I can almost guarantee that they will have some in their “housewares” aisle.
That’s the one I found! I looked at 10+ pages – including Rubbermaid, who used to make these – and couldn’t find one in plastic. My mom used these too.
