Sirius Stilleto in a car.... advice/alternatives?

I’m almost ready to take the plunge…

I believe that it comes with a line-out so I can connect it to the aux input on the front of my car system.

I believe that it I can power it from the “lighter”.

What kind of reception can I expect and where does it have to be placed?

Congrats on getting Sirius. I’ve had it for almost 4 years now. Love! It!

Since I don’t know specifics about the Stiletto, I would direct you here

I’d think that even the stiletto requires the installation of an antenna (?), and the above link will give you tips on the best placement of the antenna for your type of car…

It’s so hard to listen to regular radio once you’ve gone to Sirius. My sweetheart got me one for X-mas years back and I’ve loved it ever since.

I don’t have a stiletto but one tip I can offer is that you don’t necessarily need to mount the antennae outside your car. Mine is under the rear-window on the shelf behind the rear seats held down with one side of black velcro. It sticks to the fuzzy upholstery perfectly. I ran the wire under my back seats and up into the console storage compartment between the front seats. So I can store my receiver in that compartment if I don’t want it to be visible (I’ve had one stolen).

On my last car, I had the antennae mounted on the roof but I’m now getting the exact same reception with it mounted inside through the window. My experience with reception is that it goes out momentarily if I pass under a bridge and may occassionally flicker out on an especially cloudy day. But I live in the Pacific Northwest were it is always cloudy and it’s still very rare that I don’t have perfect reception. And from what I’ve heard the Stiletto gets even better reception than most other receivers.

Thanks for all the info on Sirius.

How about advice specifically related to the Stilleto and using it in a car??

The Crutchfield advisor is pretty informative, and also has a link to an installation video, try this page.

Here is the PDF format if you would rather skip the video.

And the owner’s manual.
