I believe you can learn something (even if it’s what NOT to do) from just about anything, even if it’s not supposed to be educational. Video games, reality shows, movies, even sitcoms.
Seinfeld IMO had tons of everyday wisdom. The discussions about “tells”, regifting, preemptive breakups, whether it was ok for Elaine to stop and get popcorn when she was told her boyfriend was in the hospital, the list would be very long.
Name some wisdom gained from sitcoms that stands out in your mind.
Mine is this: On Growing Pains, Mike is home instead of at school for some reason and turns on the TV. He sees Gilligan’s Island playing, and it’s a big revelation to him that the show is still on in spite of the fact that he’s normally at school. Life (or at least a TV show) goes on with or without him and that idea blows him away.
Not from a specific sitcom, but generally gleaned from all of them.
Many conflicts that you have with people come from simple misuderstandings. When there’s an issue to deal with, just be honest about it. Life will be easier that way although probably not nearly as amusing.
Golden Girls: When an elderly parent annoys, irritates or otherwise gets on your nerves, threaten to put them in a home and they will behave. “Shady Pines Ma!”
nothing is so awful that it can’t be made better by a $400 pair of Manolo’s
the person you have just been thinking or talking about will always be the very next person you see (upon exiting a building or opening a door) or hear from (via phone or email)
