Site of my going-away DopeFest

I went down to Rainbow Springs State Park today to check out the site for my going away fest. I took some pics. Bear in mind that I’m not a photographer. Still, I think you can see what a lovely park it is. Admission is $1 per person. There are restrooms and grills and tables and swimming and paths to explore. No alcohol allowed, but it’s a lovely place on a spring afternoon.

Just wanted to share these.

All together now, FloriDopers: “Ooooooh”.

FCM, I’d say you picked an excellent spot.

Thanks - yeah, it’s even nicer than I’d hoped. Well, except the alligator warning thing…

I can’t wait! in another month, it may even be warm enough for me to consider swimming.

I thought we were supposed to skip our going-away parties.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh gators! Well that settles it then. I’m bringing my fishin’ pole. Gonna catch us a gator and bbq it for lunch. Then we can take the hide and have a craft project! We’ll make FCM a purse and a pair of matching shoes as a going away present!

Now, somebody gonna tell me how to get there?

Swampy, when it gets a little closer to the time, I’ll have a thread with all the specific details. But for general reference, it’s about 20 miles west of Ocala, off RT 41. It’s actually easy to find, and I took notes with specific mileage for the future thread.

I got you to my house, so I can get you to a public park - no sweat!

And don’t bother with the alligator bag and shoes - definitely not my style…

Then how bout a gator skin ottoman (ottomon?) for when I decorate your new home.

[overthetopgaydecorator] It’ll be faaaaaaaaabulous! [/overthetopgaydecorator]

I found out last night that my first-born will be in attendance, but possibly not awake. Apr 23 is Grad Night at Disney World, and she’ll get home about 7AM. I plan to leave about 8:30, so I expect she’ll grab a shower, then go to sleep in the back of the van.

And swampy - no animal skins or hides or feet or antlers or any other parts in decorating. OK, well, feathers might be OK in moderation but only if they were picked up off the ground and not harvested with big feather-plucking machines. Did I mention how much I looooove polyester?!?

:D:D:D

Polyester?!?! I may faint! Oh very well then, if we’re going for that 1972 look would you prefer burnt orange or lime green shag carpet? Avocado green or burnt copper appliances? Formica or butcher block counter tops? Inlaid or rolled linoleum? Swag or lava lamps? Perhaps a combo of both? Oh and do you want your fondue pot to be built in or countertop? I may be able to find a retro microwave but bear in mind it needs its own lead shielded room. One more thing, do you want lavender striped or daisy wallpaper for Marsha’s, Jan’s and Cindy’s room?
