Vincent and Jules play with guns and things go really wrong. They don’t know what to do and call the Wolf, who comes running over even though it’s eight in the AM and he’s been up all night. The wolf is brusque and won’t take any guff, but he can fix any problem and it’s obvious he loves Jules and Vincent. And how does he solve the problem? He doesn’t shoot anyone or blow anything up. He gives the boys a good talking to and helps them clean up their mess.
Tarantino and his mom were abandoned by his biological father at an early age, and Tarantino once called Harvey Kietel "my real father’ at an awards show. I’ve always seen the Wolf as something an abandoned boy might have wished for in a father. A tough guy who’ll drop everything to fix your problem, no matter how dire and how inconvenient it is for him.
