sixth grade skateboarders

Aye Carumba, I rode a board to and from sixth grade (up hill both ways, in a foot of snow  ) way back in the 1970’s. I never achieved the skill of todays skaters. But I hardly think that something kids have been doing for more than three decades is a “Trend”. I also wonder why the OP talks to sixth graders. Not that he/she should not, but that other than family, I have not had occasion to talk to them in many years.

As to complaints about selling out by Tony, since when does cashing in on ones celebrity mean one has “Sold Out”? Is anyone really suggesting that it is ok if he makes commercials for skateboards but somehow it is not ok for him to make commercials for pizza thingys? If so. Why?

I would think a rant about kids wearing pants sagging so low that they expose half (or all) of their ass would be more poingnant.

I used to have me one of them 6th grade terrors. They make lots of noise and they can be annoying but, he kept trying and trying to do those board flips and was so proud when he finally got the hang of it. Another endorsement for Tony Hawk, I haven’t heard that he has been arrested for anything or take human growth pills.
