I’m planning on buying a Kobe Bryant jersey at NBA.COM, but they list sizes in M-L-XL-XXL, and so on. I got several jerseys at home, but their sizes are listed on a numeric scale instead (I wear Champion, size 48). Since I have not the slightest idea as to the equivalence between both scales (and am wary of buying a product without having the appropriate frame of reference to determine whether it will fit or not), I was hoping some in-the-know doper would help me to determine what a 48 equates to in the alphabetic scale used by the guys at NBA.COM.
This is the chart I found after a quick search of Retro Jerseys.
Size Body Length Body Width
44 (M) 32 in. 24 in.
46 (L) 33 in. 25 in.
48 (XL) 34 in. 26 in.
52 (2XL) 35 in. 27 in.
54 (3XL) 37 in. 28 in.
56 (4XL) 38 in. 29 in.
60 (5XL) 41 in. 30 in.
Be advised that the “authentic” jerseys (tackle twill numerals and lettering) can run as long as all get out. I’m pretty much height proportional to weight and at 5’ 10", mine fit fine in the chest but are truly dresses in length.
On the one hand one could say, well, duhhh, NBA players tend on the tall side but should a product sold to fans better fit the player or the typical fan? Is it possible to be “too authentic?”
