What hyphen? There wasn’t a hyphen, and you can’t prove there ever was. 
Some of it may be coincidental, but I think that is to some degree this may be an artifact of the occasionally cyclical nature of large general interest boards like these. One rape ( or any other hot button topic with multiple potential angles ) thread begets another and then another and then another, including angry Pit threads. It might just be my faulty memory but I don’t recall a persistent glut of rape topics on this board over the last decade. I do agree they seem more common as of late.

Rather than typing out a long response, I will just agree with this. I don’t think anyone here considers themselves “pro-rape”. Much like “pro-abortion” I think there are few people anywhere who think that. I think even rapists would say rape is bad, but they would hand wave away what they’ve done as “not really rape,” and I think that’s the culture of the board a lot of times. I mean look in this thread; we had a poster initially agree that rape isn’t discussed as respectfully as it ought to be on here, and then post a rape “joke”. Yuck. But see, that doesn’t count :rolleyes:.
I’ve pretty much gotten to the point where I avoid any discussion of sexual assault on here. There are certain people who always show up and force the conversation to be *at least *50% about how men might get unfairly accused, or how it’s just too hard to know when a woman consents, or other such nonsense. It deeply bothers me, so I try to avoid those talks, and if you look at other times when someone makes this complaint there are always others who agree. But whatever; like I said, I learned this is a battle I won’t win on here so I stopped fighting it.
Dio’s joke may be one that you hear all the time, but that doesn’t make it any less shitheaded. I mean, yeah, society thinks it hilarious that men are raped in prison. I don’t though.

Rape is a violent and dangerous crime that happens to one in four women. It is rarely funny. Your (general) idea of a rare funny rape joke is probably mistaken. It’s still going to offend many people.
Rape in prison happens. It is not an acceptable consequence of being a convicted criminal. It is a violent crime made possible by the fact that the state has put the victim in a situation where the victim cannot escape and where the state keeps the victim trapped with the perpetrators making reporting and prosecuting a practical impossibility. Jokes about it are no more funny than other rape jokes. See above.
Women do not find rape jokes funny and usually view them as a sign of a disgusting man. Women also don’t like jokes about men cheating on their wives, and have pretty much the same view of the men who tell them.
